Four-Leaf Clover-Rated Dates

Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Are you and your partner feeling festive this St. Patrick’s Day? If so, head to Balboa Park on Saturday morning, March 17th for San Diego’s famous St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Titled the biggest St. Paddy’s celebration west of the Mississippi, it’s a San Diego favorite! With nearly 100 food stands, multiple beer gardens and over 150 floats featuring marching bands and pipe bands, the parade pays ample homage to the land we love to celebrate. The parade begins at 9 a.m., but arrive early as this event draws a huge crowd. All the more reason to say to your sweetheart “top ‘o the morning!”

Get away to Julian

Follow the rainbow to San Diego’s very own pot of gold! An hour outside of San Diego, the quaint town in the Cuyamaca Mountains offers a slice of solitude, complimented by a slice of their famous apple pie! Shops and Gaslamp-lit restaurants line downtown Main Street while fiddlers and guitarists entertain on street corners. Julian is in close proximity to San Diego and is ideal for a daytrip, but, with various Bed and Breakfasts, the town always welcomes lovebirds to stay the night.

If you and your sweetheart share a love of music, San Diego’s annual ShamROCK is the perfect date idea! This music event will feature popular Celtic bands, Irish rock and various DJs performing on three stages lining the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter. Spend your Saturday night with the one you love the Irish way! Green beer-drinking and Irish step-dancing is encouraged.

Beachfront picnic at Seagrove Park

The grass at Seagrove Park in Del Mar is so green the Irish would be put to shame. With unobstructed views of the ocean and Del Mar’s stunning, cliffy coastline, it is the perfect spot to celebrate a quiet Saturday with your partner. For bonus points, bring along a bottle of champagne, some strawberries and a blanket to watch the sunset. It will have them falling in love with you all over again.

An evening in Temecula

For another out-of-town option, whisk your sweetheart away to Temecula. Serving as Southern California’s version of Napa, Temecula boasts beautiful vineyards and wine beyond compare. With dozens of wineries to choose from, you’re sure to satisfy the wine lover in your life. If sprawling vineyards aren’t what you’re looking for, take a romantic stroll through Old Town Temecula where antique stores, shops and restaurants line the streets. With a town so charming at your fingertips, you may just have the luck of the Irish.
