How To Keep Your Home Smelling Fresh

Living in a home that always smells fresh is great for many reasons. Firstly, you’ll always enjoy being in your own space, which is important – your home needs to be your sanctuary, and if you don’t like spending time at home due to not feeling at home, then you’ll have nowhere ‘safe’ to go. Secondly, if your home smells good, then you won’t mind if people drop by, plus you won’t get stressed when you know you’ve got guests coming because you don’t have to deal with a musty smell. So here are some great ways to ensure your home smells fresh at all times.

Fresh Air

Possibly the very best way of making sure your house smells fresh is to let in as much fresh air as you possibly can. That means opening up doors and windows whenever possible. Of course, this can only be done when you’re at home and when the weather is good enough to do it, but when a nice warm summery breeze can flow through your home, it will eliminate other odors and replace them with a lovely natural scent. You might even be able to smell wildflowers or other blooms.

Scented Cleaning Vinegar

Much of the time when you are trying to get rid of unpleasant smells in your home, you will need to eliminate them entirely, not just cover them up. This is where a good deep clean can be useful, as you will be able to remove any stains or messes that are causing the nasty odor. When you’re doing this, try using a scented cleaning vinegar. You can make this yourself very easily and cheaply. Not only will this clear away germs and bacteria, but it will also leave a lovely smell behind.

Smoke Outside

If you or another member of your household smokes, it’s recommended that they go outside to do it, and preferably far away from the house too. Cigarette smoke can linger, and the smelly particles easily attach themselves to fabrics including drapes and carpets as well as furniture and clothing. If you are unable to smoke outside due to your location, or you don’t have an outdoor space large enough to get a good distance from the house, try switching from smoking to vaping with instead. Not only is this good for the smell in your house, but it’s also better for your health too.

Wax Melts

Wax melts are little cubes of scented wax that are burned in a special lamp. They are safer than candles because there is no open flame, and they come in a huge range of scents. These melts burn for a long time and can leave your house smelling delightful. If you want to save money, you can even make them yourself, and as a bonus, they make great gifts.

Air Purifying Plants

Having potted houseplants in your home won’t just make your home look attractive; they can help keep it smelling fresh too. Some plants such as orchids, peace lilies, and palms are natural air purifiers.
