With the warm San Diego sun shining down and a nice cool sea breeze coming off of the Pacific Ocean in the background, Pacifica Del Mar has amazing food, views, and service. The family-owned establishment opened its doors in 1989 in Del Mar. To this day, Pacifica Del Mar is frequented by locals and visitors to the area on a daily basis. I was able to ask Nicole Lazar, head of marketing, a few questions about Pacifica Del Mar and what they offer their customers.
What niche does Pacifica Del Mar cater to?
Folks looking for consistently fresh, creative cuisine. It’s a place for weeknight dinners, special occasions, and for friends to meet at the bar. Some come for the food, some for the drinks––all leave with the same amazing ocean view.
Can you tell me about your catering options?
We have the ability to cater to your home for your private event, but [we] also have five distinct, but equally beautiful venues within our restaurant. We offer:
Breeze Café - Private covered outdoor patio dining with stunning ocean view sunsets. Accommodates up to 70 guests for a sit down dinner and 80-100 guests for a cocktail reception.
Private Reserve - State-of-the-art private dining and presentation space for corporate and special events. Accommodates up to 45 guests for a sit down dinner and 65 guests for a cocktail reception.
Wine Room - Designed for more intimate dining for a party up to 12 guests amid hundreds of fine vintage wines.
Pacifica's Patio - Casual fine dining for up to 120 seated guests and cocktail reception for parties up to 150 guests overlooking the quaint village of Old Del Mar and the sparkling Pacific Ocean.
The Gallery - The interior portion of Pacifica Del Mar features an aquarium of marine-colored life and special effect lighting against a backdrop of the Pacific Ocean for up to 65 seated guests and 75 guests for a cocktail reception.
What are some favorite customer dishes?
Some of our staple dishes are our Sugar-Spiced Salmon and Pan Roasted Seabass. New items we are excited about from Chef David Burke are his Black Cod with udon noodles, mushrooms, and edamame in a kombu broth, as well as his Whole Roasted Branzino with puttanesca sauce.
Describe your menu for our readers.
Our menu consists of modern coastal cuisine full of fresh fish, pasta dishes, and choice meats. We feature local produce and daily items in our raw bar. Our bar serves fresh cocktails, and our expansive wine list has consistently made Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence.
Can you tell me about Pacifica Breeze?
The Breeze Café is our sister restaurant located on the Del Mar Plaza's mid-level. It’s open daily for breakfast and lunch, and [it] serves classic and whimsical items, like hash and waffles. It’s definitely a local’s hangout, where guests come multiple times a week with friends and their dogs! The outdoor patio offers [a great] view and a fantastic ocean breeze to accompany your meal, hence, the Breeze Café. As a note, there is a full bar at the Breeze, so brunch cocktails and lunchtime wine is a must!
Are there any other highlights Pacifica Del Mar boasts?
The Ocean Bar features an International Vodka Bar, which serves more than 100 of the world's finest vodkas. We continues to expand its unrivaled selection, showcasing vodkas from more than twenty countries. It’s a great place to try a variety of mules and a bite over good company!
