The North Coast Repertory Theater will once again hold another amazing production with the premiere of Tony Kushner’s magically transporting comedy The Illusion, which is adapted from Pierre Corneille’s L’Illusion Comique. David Ellenstein returns to North Coast Repertory to direct. The Illusion will play Feb 22nd–March 19th at the North Coast Repertory Theater in Solana Beach. Previews begin February 22nd–24th. Tickets start at $42 and are now on sale to the general public.

The Illusion is a hilarious, dreamlike tale that celebrates the magic and illusory of theater. The play follows Pridamant, a lawyer, as he searches for his son whom he banished 15 years ago. Throughout the play, a mysteriously powerful magician shows him three different versions (or illusions) of his son’s life, all featuring three men and two women but each being referred to by different names and showing them in different locations. As the images being conjured up become more sinister, Pridamant becomes increasingly more anxious in finding and rescuing his son from certain peril.
