10 Beauty Hacks

Change Your Beauty Routine

Beauty Hacks You Should Know

No matter what you do in your daily makeup routine there's always a solution to make it easier. There are also ways that you probably didn't even know you could spruce up your makeup routine. Beauty hacks are simple and easy tricks to make your life just a little bit better. Here are 10 beauty hacks to add to your routine.

Prime your eyelids before applying eyeshadow. Investing in a good eye primer is the perfect way to make sure your shadow lasts all day and get the ultimate pigmentation of your eyeshadow. A lot of primers can look like concealers, so for a hack within a hack, use your concealer as an eyeshadow primer. It works just as well, and it's especially good if you have veiny eyelids. If you often wear brightly colored eyeshadows, try a white eyeshadow primer to make the colors pop.

Add a few drops of contact solution or eyedrops to a prematurely dried out mascara. We all know the 3-month rule when it comes to mascara: throw it out. Not only do most mascaras dry out and become flaky after a few months, but they also harbor a ton of bacteria. The best idea is to throw your tubes out after three months to avoid any kind of eye infection. However, there are some pesky mascaras that dry out before your three months are up. The best way to fix this is to add a few drops of your favorite contact solution or eyedrops to the bottle.

Clean your makeup brushes with a gentle face cleanser. It’s important to clean your makeup brushes at least once a month or even weekly, depending on how often you use them. However, since these brushes are very delicate, you'll want to use a gentle cleanser. Makeup cleansers can be on the pricey side, but if you use a gentle face cleanser in your daily routine, you can also use that to clean your makeup brushes. The cleanser will break down all the buildup on your face, so it will be sure to also break down the build-up on your brushes.

Use dry shampoo to add volume to your hair. Dry shampoo is a great product to use in between hair washes, but if you're lacking in the volume department, it’s good for that too. Use dry shampoo to add texture and volume to your flat hair. Spray it at the root, like you normally would, and massage through your roots. It will bring your hair to a level you didn’t think was possible.

Use Apple Cider Vinegar for everything. Not only is Apple Cider Vinegar a natural remedy for anything you can think of, this magical vinegar can be used a toner, which helps to treat and prevent acne. It can also be used as a hair rinse to remove buildup and prevent dandruff and as a spot treatment for pimples and annoying scars. Always make sure to to purchase raw Apple Cider Vinegar, as it contains “The Mother,” which contains good bacteria, proteins, and enzymes!

Add Vaseline on pulse points to make your perfume last longer. The best spots for perfume application are behind the ear, inside of your wrist, the base of your throat, inside your elbow, and behind your knees. Before you spray those areas, adding Vaseline––or even unscented lotion––can ensure a longer wear. Some other perfume hacks are to apply perfume right after a shower and before you get dressed. Don't rub your wrists together, just spray perfume on your hair brush.

Use black tea bags to reduce puffy eyes. Black tea contains high levels of caffeine and tannins, which are great for reducing puffy eyes from lack of sleep. Caffeine helps to shrink blood vessels that can cause swelling, puffiness, and dark circles. You could also use green or white tea, but they don't contain nearly the same amount of caffeine and tannins that black tea does.

Invest in a liquid latex barrier for easy cleanup when painting your nails. Adding nail art––and even the simple act of painting your nails––can become messy fast. This is where a liquid latex barrier comes in! Adding it along your finger tips and cuticles before you begin painting your nails can help you decrease cleanup time. You could also use this for when you decide to use a cuticle remover that dissolves your cuticles to prevent your skin from peeling.

Use mascara as eyeliner in a pinch. When you run out of eyeliner, and have a plethora of mascara handy you can use an eyeliner brush to rub along the bristles of the mascara wand as eyeliner. This can last a long time, especially if the mascara is waterproof. This is a good solution to all of your eyeliner woes, and you can use this daily if you want. However, some mascaras aren't as dark as others so if you want to ensure pigmentation you should double up on it.

Add a couple drops of peppermint oil to your lip products for a DIY lip plumper. Right now big lips are all the rage, and it's really hard to achieve them unless you have the right products. You can use peppermint oil as a quick solution for fuller lips. Peppermint oil really helps to plump up the lips and can be easily added to most lip products like lipgloss or lipstick. Do not put the oil directly to your lips without product because the oil is very concentrated.
