Baywatch Reboot Movie Review
Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron Star in "Baywatch"
Baywatch 2017 Film Reboot Review
Director Seth Gordon’s reboot of the iconic 1990s television show Baywatch––now playing in theaters––fully embraces what was entertaining about the original show. Baywatch is a decent and entertaining movie to take viewers back to the beach with laugh-out-loud humor and tons of actions.
Dwayne Johnson is such an irresistibly good-natured star to headline this film and radiates his typical, effortlessly charming self in his role as Mitch Buchannon, the head of Baywatch’s elite crew of lifeguards. The always charming Zac Efron plays Matt Brody, a retired Ryan Lochte-type Olympic swimmer.
Priyanka Chopra (Quantico) plays the villain who is running drugs and is as dangerous as she is seductive. But the real scene-stealer of the film is Jon Bass as Ronnie, a nerd with heart. Bass’s comedic timing is spot on, and he brings out most of the film’s comedy. But, of course, it’s not Baywatch without the obligatory shots of the cast running in slow-motion.
Baywatch showcase amazing cinematography, and the action sequences are both violent and whimsical. As this is a reboot, audiences get the playful callbacks to the past and the clever nods to the iconic TV show.
Baywatch will leave you laughing so hard until your cheeks hurt, and it's a great excuse to come to the movies. And let’s be honest: you really can’t go wrong with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
