Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant invites all to celebrate its 50th year in San Diego at its historic Kensington location on Sunday, September 15 during a special 300-person outdoor event featuring parillada, a beer garden, live music, family friendly activities, local vendors and more! Founded in September 1969 and still family owned and operated, Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant will celebrate this milestone from 12 to 6 p.m. in the outdoor lot adjacent to the Kensington restaurant – and as is the case with all Ponce’s efforts, everyone in the community is invited.
Ponce’s anniversary celebration will mimic a parillada, or Mexican cookout, featuring unlimited amounts of fans’ favorite Ponce’s street tacos cooked on an outdoor grill. Those 21+ can enjoy a beer garden serving the restaurant’s signature margaritas, a signature beer brewed especially for this occasion by Fall Brewing Company and more. Live mariachi and a local favorites B-Side Players will play throughout the day, and families are welcome to get in on the festivities with corn hole, face painting, a bounce castle and balloon animals. San Diego brands who have grown alongside Ponce’s throughout the years will also be present with samples and giveaways, including Lurkville Skateboards, Chikle, Don Wapo Hot Sauce, Lynt Clothing, and Flying Panther Tattoo.
Ticket holders will receive access to the party with unlimited parillada, two drink tickets (agua fresca for those not 21+; beer garden is 21+), a limited edition t-shirt or tank top designed by Chikle, and raffle tickets for prizes including skateboard decks, tattoos, Ponce’s gift cards and more. Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased in-person at Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant’s locations in Kensington or Del Sur. Learn more at www.bit.ly/ponces50.
