La Diva Renée Delivers Super Bowl Glamour in Vera Wang
Vogue Magazine called her “the world’s top soprano, and the most glamorous.” Chef Daniel Boulud of New York City’s upscale restaurant Daniel created La Diva Renée, a sinfully delicious dessert named in her honor. Metropolitan Opera superstar Renée Fleming always delivers exquisite music in style. At last Sunday’s Super Bowl, she delivered our National Anthem, in a to-die-for Vera Wang.
The custom-made gown, a long-sleeved column of black, hand draped with an ivory silk faille one-shouldered wrap coat, inspired both fashion and music fans. Opera enthusiasts praised Fleming’s tasteful singing, done with operatic flair and panache. Fashion aficionados obsessed over the dazzling design of the ensemble. She, herself, described the moment—and the dress—as unforgettable.
Since her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1988, when the New York Times hailed her “flood of beautiful sound,” Renée Fleming has captured the hearts of music lovers around the world. Known for her silvery voice, effortless poise and fashion acumen, she has graced stages on practically every continent—she gave a sold-out recital performance with San Diego Opera in 2012—and has amassed a panoply of kudos and honors, including three Grammy awards, for her extraordinary singing abilities.
No wonder her appearance at the Super Bowl added a much-appreciated touch of class to the atmosphere at Giants Stadium.
