Monster Jam Races its Way to Petco Park
Feld Entertainment brings their Monster Jam tour to San Diego.
Monster Jam: Aftershock
Start those engines as Feld Entertainment presents two nights of car–crushing family fun at Petco Park. Monster Jam is taking place January 23rd and February 6th. For the second year in a row, fan favorites like Grave Digger and El Toro Loco will be in attendance, with Max D, Man of Steel, Batman and many more. Monster Jam will also showcase newcomer Gas Monkey Garage.
Avid fans of Fast N’ Loud may recognize the new Gas Monkey Garage monster truck, as it's based on the famous garage by the same name on the Discovery Channel show. The truck body was designed by Richard Rawlings and will begin touring with Monster Jam in 2016. The car will be driven by BJ Johnson.
The famous monster truck Grave Digger was created by Dennis Anderson in 1982 in Kill Devil Hills, NC. The monster truck is celebrated as one of the most influential and iconic monster trucks of all time. Grave Digger started off as a mud bogger in 1981 and was originally a 1952 Ford pickup truck. Anderson happened to be in the right place at the right time at a local show. When a scheduled monster truck never showed, Anderson offered his truck with large tractor tires to crush cars, which turned out to be overwhelmingly successful and led to his career in monster trucks.
In 1998, Anderson sold the Grave Digger clan to Feld Entertainment, formerly USA Motor Sports. Currently, there are nine Grave Digger trucks being driven in order for them to make more appearances at events. The many Grave Diggers are driven by creator Dennis Anderson, Adam Anderson, Pablo Huffaker, Morgan Kane, Charlie Pauken, Carl Van Horn, Cole Vernard and John Zimmer.
Another popular truck making its way to the track is El Toro Loco, which translates to The Crazy Bull. The monster truck was originally driven by veteran Lupe Soza. Soza had a rough start with El Toro Loco in 2003, but his memorable freestyle performance earned him a spot in second place with the incredible score of 36 out of a possible 40. The monster truck is currently driven by Aaron Basl, Marc McDonald, Becky McDonough, Dan Rodoni and Chuck Werner. The truck was created in 2001 by SFX and PACE Motorsports and has been popular with kids ever since.
Feld Entertainment is universally known for producing live entertainment tours that provide long-lasting family experiences with 30 million people attending their shows each year. Their productions, along with Monster Jam, include Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Monster Energy Supercross, Nuclear Cowboyz, AMSOIL Arenacross, Marvel Universe LIVE!, Disney On Ice and Disney Live!
Gather fan gear and prepare to cheer on as monster trucks twist, turn and destroy. The home of the Padres is hosting the event at 100 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101.
