Moving Day Essentials
Moving day doesn’t have to be the stressful and difficult day that it looks on the surface, and with some smart planning, you can make sure that your moving day goes without a hitch. Having moved 3 times in the last few years, my wife and I have managed to get this down to a fine, and I want to share with you our moving day essentials, which may come in handy for you if you are planning on moving home in the near future. Get planned well ahead of time and make sure that you arm yourself with these essentials.
A forklift truck is going to be one of the most helpful pieces of equipment that you need during your moving day, and it is going to ensure that nobody gets injured when lifting heavy items. Lifting sofas and appliances up on to the moving truck is made super simple with a rented forklift truck. I rented a small truck from Mars forklifts Sydney, and despite being a bit unsure at first this turned out to be the best decision that I have made.
They say that many hands make for light work and that is most certainly the case on a moving day. This is why it makes so much sense to call in the troops as soon as you know what day you are going to be moving. Giving people notice is essential in getting as many people helping as you possibly can. Remember to make their lives easier when they arrive, ensure that everyone has a job to do and that nobody feels like a spare part.
Not all essentials for your moving day require a big effort from you and one of the most important things which you are going to need is some colored markers. The key to your moving day going well is down to organization and making sure that everyone knows where each box is going, and how it should be handled. Before every box gets loaded up onto a car or a van, there should be a final check done to ensure that the box is marked with its destination in the new home and that it is marked as fragile if there are breakables in there, a color-coded system works best and that is why you’ll need to ensure you have markers.
Day One Box
There is little worse than getting to the new home, and then having to try and find your day one essentials in the multitude of boxes which you have in front of you. This is why I recommend that you get yourself a day one box, a box filled with all of the things you’ll need when you first arrive at a new place. This should include phone chargers, flashlights, snacks and water, some clean bedding and pillows and some cleaning supplies. With this box, you’ll be able to get straight into the new place and get comfortable before you start the big unpacking job.
