It’s only been a little over a year since Mozy Jahanguiri moved to San Diego. Born in Persia, the restaurateur opened the Rancho Santa Fe Bistro with the prospect of continuing to build reputable eateries, and to be closer to his son, who has served two tours in Afghanistan. Take a look around the intimate bistro and you might notice the friendly photos decorating the walls. If you’re a sports fan, don’t miss an opportunity to meet a man who knows a few legends.
“I met Jerry [Jones] in college,” said Jahanguiri. “He came to eat at my restaurant when Dallas played Minneapolis. He said, ‘Mozy, you should open one of these in Dallas.’ And so, we did.”
Jerry Jones is a well-known businessman, popularly known as the owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys.
Jahanguiri reminisced on the patio of his bistro about opening the restaurant Yvette in Dallas with Jones and Barry Switzer, former head coach of the University of Oklahoma and former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. According to Jahanguiri, these men made him a very rich man.
“Jerry and Barry taught me about relationships, about how to be a better person,” he said. “It was never about money. These guys showed me that relationships are the most important thing in life.”
