Music, art, smoldering desert sun, and oh the fashion! Welcome to Coachella, the Music and Arts festival that draws the biggest names in the music scene, along with 198,000 sweating and hyped up guests annually. The cool and relaxed vibes of the Indio Polo Club where the festival takes place gives festival goers a chance to dress up without the fear of conventional limits. Boho Chic with just a dash of sparkles can be seen on nearly every other chella-babe, making it safe to say dressing up as a desert gypsy who got run over by a unicorn isn’t entirely out of line. 2017 Coachella fashion proved to be dominated by the boho-chic theme; however the level of “chic” seems to be getting a little “chicer” every year, with styles that err on the side of high-end boho (is that even a thing?) that isn’t afraid to show off the um… assets.
With celebrities, influencer, press, & attendees amply filling the wide open space that is Indio for two glorious weekends, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that hotels, airbnb’s, and getaway homes book up months in advance. This leaves many guests scrambling for camping passes right inside the polo club its self. Camping is a much loved activity for anyone who manage well in the great outdoors, but camping in 100 degree plus weather can certainly present some challenges to those Coachella fashionistas. The sun isn’t kind to freshly styled hair, and the heat isn’t kind to face glitter, makeup, and matte lipstick. What proves to be an even bigger challenge then the obvious beauty hiccups is the strict no mirror policy. Mirrors are banned from the festival campground as a glass safety precaution, leaving many style gurus staring at their contorted reflection in the side of their car. Needless to say, if you can successfully manage to camp in the deadly heat, and still pull off a superb outfit, you’re the real MVP.
