Reasons to Sleep with a Silk Pillowcase
And How It Will Leave You Worry-Free in the Morning.
Have you ever woken up with extremely frizzy hair to the point where you could rival Monica from FRIENDS in the episode “The One In Barbados”? Have you ever wished there was some way you could quickly remedy the frizz? Well, I might have the thing for you, a silk pillowcase. I’ll give you nine reasons why sleeping on a silk pillowcase is a must-have for not only your hair but also your sleep.

As I mentioned in the above paragraph, sleeping with a silk pillowcase reduces frizz and tangles. Because of the silks, well, silky texture, the hair is not able to get caught on fibers as it would on a cotton pillowcase. The texture then allows the hair to slide easily over the pillowcase, leaving you with less bedhead and frizz.
Silk pillowcases can feel like an item of luxury. What I mean by that statement is that because of the texture, the pillowcase can feel like something more expensive than it is. The pillowcase can feel nice and soft against your skin as you sleep, leading your mind to believe that you are being pampered. You can also pair the silk pillowcases with silk sheets for the ultimate luxury experience of sleeping in something so soft.

Having a silk pillowcase can reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Because of the smooth texture, your skin, like your hair, gets less friction moving across the silk, allowing for your skin to not get tugged on. Sleeping on silk pillowcases instead of cotton also allows the skin on your face to not be "crushed," and the fine lines that come from this crushing sensation will disappear.

Silk pillowcases are easy to clean. Like cotton pillowcases, you can easily throw silk pillowcases in the washing machine. Of course, you will have to put it on the delicate cycle, but it should be fine without having to take it to a dry cleaner. This allows you not to spend the extra bucks and to have the ability to throw it in with your laundry.
Silk pillowcases can regulate temperature if you are a person who gets hot and/or sweaty while sleeping, silk allows the heat and moisture to dissipate throughout the silk instead of staying on your skin. With a silk pillowcase, there is no more need to flip your pillow over when it gets too hot because it will remain at the same temperature. During the winter, silk pillowcases are also able to retain heat, allowing you to stay comfortable while sleeping year-round.

Silk is hypoallergenic. The fibers in silk make the pillow resistant to dust mites and mold. Since silk is a tightly knit fabric, it can also reduce the amount of dander and dust that is collected in pillows, allowing for a cleaner pillow throughout.
Silk keeps the skin hydrated. Because of the smooth, silky texture, silk pillowcases are less absorbent than cotton pillowcases. Silk pillowcases do not soak up the dirt and oils from your face as much as cotton pillowcases do, leading to less clogged pores and breakouts.

Silk also keeps the hair hydrated. Like with your skin, the good oils in your hair stay in and keep it hydrated. Silk also contains amino acids, which can also be found in shampoos and conditioners, allowing your hair to continue to be pampered while you sleep.

Silk pillowcases are also relatively inexpensive. You might think that with all these impressive benefits that a pillowcase may be expensive. But looking into the price, I found that they usually go for an average price range of 13$-85$. Not too bad of a price for a luxury item.
