Romantic Wines in San Diego
The most romantic wineries in San Diego!
You’re sitting in a dim restaurant across the candlelit table from that special someone. The waiter returns with the bottle of wine you’ve selected to go with your dinner. He works the corkscrew and with a soft pop, followed by a splash into the glass, the night just became magical. It continues to amaze us that something as simple and sublime as opening a bottle of wine can produce this instant effect on our emotions. It doesn’t matter if you prefer red or white or something in between, there is a wine out there for you. Here are a couple of San Diego bottles of wine that are guaranteed to make your night magical.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, it’s time to think about a wonderful wine to share with your loved one. A Falkner wine that we promote for the occasion is our 2014 White Luscious Lips wine. This wine has the fruit qualities and sweetness that our guests describe as wonderful. For Valentine’s Day this great wine works well with many sweet desserts and especially some white chocolate dishes. At the winery we also use this wine as the weather warms to make a delicious white Sangria.
Falkner Winery is one of the premier wineries in beautiful Temecula Valley. It is the painstaking effort of its owners, Ray and Loretta Falkner, who purchased the winery in June of 2000. The Falkner’s have created an environment with great wines (over 80% are awarded Gold or Silver Medals), fun atmosphere, an award–winning Pinnacle Restaurant, spectacular mountain top vistas, and entertaining and educational tours. The winery also specializes in elegantly catered parties and romantic wedding receptions.
Adding to their already fun environment, Falkner Winery created a Crush Club segment to their list of wine clubs. This club offers easy drinking wines with a touch of sweetness, such as their Red Luscious Lips®, White Luscious Lips®, Irresistible Rosato, and Risqué Riesling. The winery also offers a monthly Wine Appreciation Class and private VIP tours and tastings.
The winery offers wines tastings every day from 10am – 5pm and the Pinnacle Restaurant is open 11:30am to 3:30pm. For reservations or additional information, visit their website Falkner Winery, call 951-676-8231, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Introducing Bernardo Winery’s recently released 2014 Albarino | Syrah Rosado, a happy union of the fruity, luscious and bold Syrah with it’s French Rhone heritage and the crisp, refreshing and slightly citrusy Albarino. The Albarino grape, which originates from Spain, basks in the traditionally red-friendly San Diego terroir. According to winemaker Ross Rizzo, “The Albarino grape is such a versatile and underappreciated grape, especially in warmer climates like San Diego. Fortunatetly, it grows really well here and creates a beautifully lush canopy that provides great protection from the sun without really sacrificing any of its great tropical fruit characteristics. Albariño knows sun protection is key in San Diego wine grapes, so it brings along its dense canopy umbrella to protect it’s semi-fair skin and body from losing any of those delicious tropical fruit characteristics.” Behold, sun protection at it’s finest.
In our Rosado Blend, created by Mr. Rizzo, the Albarino stands up to the Syrah well, creating a flavorful Rosé, lightly floral on the nose, on the palate, notes of cranberry and spring strawberry. It’s fresh, fruity and well-rounded, with a bold finish reminding you the Syrah is there. It pairs well with rich fish and seafood dishes, a creamy chicken and pasta or roasted vegetables. Keep in mind, the versatile Rosado pairs well with a wonderful date... this Winter-friendly Rosé will satisfy both of your palates and then some. Limited bottling, available while it lasts in the tasting room. Bernardo Winery • 13330 Paseo del Verano San Diego 92128 • 858.487.1866
