This past Saturday, the taste buds of the Del Mar Plaza guests were rocked at Fine Magazine’s first official European Market. Guests of the Del Mar Plaza were treated to some amazing and decadent samples from local food and wine companies. Not sure which company brought what to the European Market? Forgot to grab the name and address of your favorite place? Don’t worry! Here are the incredible food and alcohol vendors who participated in the Del Mar Plaza’s European Market.
Eating Off the Vine
Located near the middle of the market, Temecula’s own Eating Off the Vine provided some delicious herb lemon dressing on carrot slices and lettuce leaves. Eating Off the Vine also brought along a delicious hand-crafted herb cheese spread made from local, organically grown herbs. This cheese spread was served on a thin cracker with either cranberry sauce or a persimmon. Eating Off the Vine’s delicious herb products are a perfect, light appetizer for any holiday gathering!
Wine Down Box
The owners of Wine Down Box, a young company still in its first year, were pouring red and white wine from Mattucci Winery for patrons at the Del Mar Plaza. How does Wine Down Box work? It's simple: every month, Wine Down Box sends a wine, cheese, and meat pairing straight to their subscribers' doorstep. North County Olive Oil
Olive oil is an essential part of most cooking, and North County Olive Oil brought an amazing array of flavored olive oils to the European Market! North Country Olive Oil sells some beautiful gift sets which include some flavored olive oils and vinegars. The Red Door Restaurant and Wine Bar
Looking for a homemade, delicious gift for your family and friends? The Red Door has you covered! At the European Market, the Red Door provided a variety of jams and jellies produced from the Red Door Family Garden and other local farms. The Red Door Restaurant is located Downtown.
Darling Gourmet Biscotti
Let’s be honest: for most of us, a morning cup of coffee is a necessity for basic functioning. And what goes better with a cup of coffee than a biscotti? Darling Gourmet Biscotti offers five different types of biscotti—the Belgian chocolate flavor is to die for—and they also offer gluten-free products. Mike Hess Brewing Company
With locations in Miramar and North Park, Mike Hess Brewery produces a variety of craft beers, including a Vienna Cream Ale, a Rye Imperial Stout, and a few IPAs. Hess Brewing brought a few kegs of one of their cool IPAs to the Del Mar Plaza. Currently, Hess Brewing Company also offers some limited edition holiday seasonal beers.
Dark chocolate is the perfect gift at any time of year, whether it be for a holiday gift or a hostess present. Nibble Chocolate sells organic vegan dark chocolates that originates from various South American countries such as Brazil and Peru. Nibble Chocolates is located in Sorrento Valley.
Saturday was an unseasonably warm day, so Bistro West’s delicious ice cream parfaits were more than welcome. Bistro West gave out free samples of coffee, vanilla, and peppermint ice cream push pops with an Oreo cookie bottom and an eggnog cream topping. Bistro West also served some delicious Mexican hot chocolate with a marshmallow topping. Bistro West is located in Carlsbad.
Ohana Cupcakes is located in Oceanside, California, and they sell delicious and creative cupcakes. They sold a variety of different cupcake flavors at the European Market, in addition to providing free samples of peppermint, vanilla, cocnut, and chocolate cupcakes. Even better, at the European Market, Ohana Cupcakes offered a small station for children to decorate their own cupcakes!
Even though Il Fornaio is a restaurant located in the Del Mar Plaza, they too joined in on the festive holiday fun! Il Fornaio donated a couple trays of their bruschetta appetizer near the end of the evening to wow the European Market guests. Coated with diced tomatoes, garlic, basil, and olive oil, Il Fornaio’s bruschetta was a perfect savory treat for the end of a wonderful event.
