The Latest San Diego Charity Events
A look at San Diego's end of the year galas, fashion shows and social events held for local charities
2014 brought many great things to San Diego. We've had film festivals, fashion shows, food drives, performing arts and golf tournaments. And once again, we've managed to raise lots of funding for some of San Diego's top charities—among them are organizations that help disadvantaged women, animals in need, local school programs and community outreach groups of all kinds. But some of the most memorable and exciting events were held during the fall and winter months of 2014, and we were fortunate to be a part of them. So here's a look at some of the best charitable events of 2014, held right here in sunny San Diego.
Leonard Simpson's 10 Best Dressed Awards Gala
On November 13, 2014 San Diego's best dress socialites gathered at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines Hotel to celebrate fashion. Guests walked down the red carpet and enjoyed cocktails, a glamorous silent and live auction, a gourmet dinner, and even a spectacular Broadway style show. This year's event benefited Dress for Success San Diego, a nonprofit that helps disadvantaged women build their careers by providing them with professional attire and a network of contacts for support and career assistance. Among those honored was our own Editor in Chief, John Winfield.

Face Foundation's 3rd Invitational Golf Tournament
The third annual invitational golf tournament benefiting the FACE Foundation took place at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club on November 3, 2014. With their furry, four-legged companions by their sides, pros and casual golfers alike gathered on the course to raise funds for local pets. The tournament, which featured such famous golfers as Corey Pavin and Jeff Sluman, raised an astounding $110,000 to assist in life-saving veterinary care for our beloved pets via the FACE Foundation.

Lost & Found Solo Art Exhibit and Fashion Show
Santos, a well-known Carlsbad artist who devotes much of his time, energy and talent to helping local schools with art instruction and activities, struck a chord at his largest solo show to date: "Lost and Found." Through his "Maya Pop" imagery that transformed an entire wall in the True Honor Clothing's space into an expansive autobiographical mural.
