With the crinkle of fall leaves and the sweet smell of cinnamon and spice comes Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday where families come together to enjoy a delicious feast thoughtfully prepared in unison. Thoughts of juicy turkey, tart cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie slathered in whip cream are enough to make your mouth water with anticipation. Whether you’re dining indoors by a cozy fire or outside in a serene garden, Thanksgiving is about bringing your friends and family together.

This year, my good friend Laura Hillebrecht graciously allowed me to arrange a party of 24 in the middle of her pumpkin patch at The Farm Stand. Preparing a Thanksgiving meal for such a large group can be overwhelming, but delicious, traditional recipes can make the entire process worthwhile. Enjoy a delicious, gluten free meal developed without stress, and have a happy, family-filled Thanksgiving!

3–4 sweet potatoes
½ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 bag (16 ounces) marshmallows

Preheat oven to 350°F. Peel sweet potatoes, then slice them into 2” thick slices. Boil sweet potatoes until tender, drain and place into a 13x9-inch pan. While sweet potatoes are boiling, melt butter in a sauce pan; add brown sugar and cinnamon. Stir until smooth, then set aside. Drizzle brown sugar mixture evenly over potatoes. Finally, put marshmallows all over potatoes. Put in the oven for 30 minutes or until marshmallows are golden brown. Serve warm.
