New Decor for the New You: Here Are the Trends You Need to Follow

This year is the year of trends. I have tons of acquaintances who are buying homes or decorating their homes as if 2017 was yesterday. 2018 is the year for different, and unique. Floral designs are among those making a comeback. Some others include hanging fixtures, pops of color, concrete accents, and bucket sinks. All of these designs represent a little bit of how many of us grew up. I can tell you that living in a 1900's home since childhood, I have seen many refrigerators, floral designs, and pops of color.

My grandmother’s home was definitely very bland; however, she had the pops of color with the green refrigerator and pink walls. She had floral designs throughout most of her home, whether they were climbing walls or on the tablecloth. She grew up in an era where these types of designs were normal. Today most of us call it an "oldies" look, but to be quite honest, it is truly coming back into style.

First off, the hanging fixtures are becoming a reoccurring style in many homes, rather than previous trends of standing fixtures. They are truly unique. But they are becoming popular nowadays as many are getting into the spirit of decorating their homes in an old-but-chic style.

You see many homeowners are who pouring their own concrete slabs now too. People are using the concrete slabs as countertops and ones that are going to last quite a while. After all, concrete is a new trend for 2018. Many homeowners are taking part in this trend and I do not see it going away any time soon as many are really using it productively.

Color is also one that is standing out in 2018. I am seeing different and more unique colors becoming a trend. Many are using colors like deep reds and oranges as accent colors to their walls. In previous trends, you had seen many who were sticking to colors like gray, white, and blues more so than colors that pop. Lastly, the one trend that is taking 2018 back to the old days is bucket sinks. I never had a bucket sink, but they are definitely adorable. Bucket sinks are expensive but so unique and different. And understandably, many people adore them.
