San Diego's Belmont Park to Host Easter Egg Hunt

Belmont Park East Bash

Have a hoppy Easter and come celebrate at Belmont Park with a massive Easter egg hunt to remember! 10,000 eggs filled with candy and prizes will be hidden on Mission Beach and throughout the park on March 27 from 9–12 p.m. Keep your eye out for 25 special golden eggs among the bunch.

The egg hunt will have limited space and there will be different egg hunts for each age group: 0–3 year olds at 9 a.m., 4–5 year olds at 10 a.m., 6–8 year olds at 11 a.m., 9–12 year olds at 12 p.m. There is a $5 fee for each child and their tickets can be purchased at Belmont Park. This exciting event will take place directly in front of WaveHouse Beach Club at Belmont Park.

There will also be another exciting Easter egg hunt between the shops in the amusement park to follow, while supplies last, at 12:30 p.m. This egg hunt is free and requires no registration. Shops include Sun Diego, Wings, San Diego Trading Co., Beach & Resort Wear and Belmont Kiosks. You can also check out Mission Beach Rentals for the best rentals for fun beach activities.

Make sure to come hungry so you can head to a delicious, holiday brunch with your family in the sand at WaveHouse or beachside on the boardwalk at Draft, after your fun–filled Easter egg hunts.

WaveHouse will have a brunch buffet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m with seafood, carving stations, brunch classics and decadent desserts. Making a reservation is recommended and you can do so on their website at wavehousesd.com. WaveHouse sits on the Mission Beach boardwalk and covers 30,000 square feet outdoors. The outdoor tiki bars, fire pits, cabanas and tropical palms complete the checklist of a perfect California beach experience.

You can also watch as brave souls take on the FlowBarrel, a 10–foot wave machine that pumps out 100,000 gallons of water per minute over a surface that creates an endless wave. The FlowBarrel is the only one in the United States and has taken on tourists and Olympic gold medalists from all around.

Draft, known for its #BrewsandViews, is located on the Mission Beach boardwalk. The restaurant serves a wide variety of craft beers with 69 beers on tap and over 30 bottles. You can also enjoy handcrafted fare in this casual beachside setting. This brunch is on a first come, first serve basis from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

But the fun doesn't end there! Be sure to bring your cameras for a free photo–op with the Easter Bunny from 2–4 p.m. The setup will be located in the food court area of the amusement park. It is the perfect way to commemorate this exciting family–fun event.

Belmont Park was built by wealthy sugar magnate John D. Spreckels in 1925 as the Mission Beach Amusement Center. He worked long and hard at developing San Diego, and Mission Beach was his main focus. He opened the park in an effort to stimulate real estate sales and to promote his electric railway. Just a year after the amusement park made its debut, Spreckels passed away, and his organization granted the park to the city of San Diego for enjoyment for all. The park continued to grow in popularity and the Mission Beach Amusement Center was renamed Belmont Park in 1955.

Two of the its main attractions, The Giant Dipper and The Plunge (originally The Natatorium) pool, have been a part of the park's history since its opening. The two hotspots have undergone restorations from time to time throughout their time in the park.

If you want to enjoy The Giant Dipper and many other rides at Belmont Park after your Easter festivities, save some time and money by purchasing wristbands via Belmont Park. The wristbands offer unlimited rides for the day. Unfortunately, The Plunge pool is undergoing repairs and is currently closed.

Belmont Park is located at 3146 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA 92109. Parking is free with admission to the park.
