What's coming up at La Jolla Playhouse this month? Wild Goose Dreams, a world-premiere play by Hansol Jung. This production is directed by Leigh Silverman and is a co-production with The Public Theater. Wild Goose Dreams runs from September 5th–October 1st, with opening night slated for September 10th in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Forum.

Wild Goose Dreams centers around a South Korean “goose father” named Minsung, who works long hours and lives in a sparse room to support his wife and daughter overseas. When his loneliness drives him online, he becomes captivated by Nanhee, a North Korean defector desperately trying to find the father she left behind. As they navigate their new relationship, the chaotic chatter of the internet, self-doubt, and a pesky apparition complicate their ability to truly connect.

Wild Goose Dreams is a lyrical and humorous world-premiere play from award-winning South Korean playwright Hansol Jung. Filled with original music and an a cappella chorus, it's a moving exploration of how we find and lose each other in the modern world.

The cast for this show features Yunjin Kim (Lost, Mistresses), James Kyson (Heroes, Hawaii 5-0), Francis Jue (Broadway's Pacific Overtures), along with Carolyn Agan, Julian Cihi, Rona Figueroa, and Samantha Wang. UC San Diego MFA students DeLeon Dallas, Kyle Hester, and Kimberly Monks also have parts in the production.

The Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse is internationally-renowned for creating some of the most exciting and adventurous work in American theatre, through its new play development initiatives, its innovative Without Walls series, artist commissions and residencies. Currently led by Artistic Director and 2017 Tony Award winner Christopher Ashley and Managing Director Michael S. Rosenberg, the Playhouse was founded in 1947 by Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire and Mel Ferrer. It was reborn in 1983 under the artistic leadership of Des McAnuff. La Jolla Playhouse has had 28 productions transfer to Broadway, garnering 38 Tony Awards.
