People smoke for many reasons. For some, it is a way of being one with nature. It is also a beautiful way to connect with friends and socialize with acquaintances. It also promotes an atmosphere of calmness and mindfulness.
But if you are trying to lessen your tobacco consumption but still want the feel-good benefits of smoking, you may try herbs instead.
One of the most sublime methods to enjoy the glorious flavors and aroma of herbs is with the use of glass pipes. Glass pipes are an elegant and convenient way to smoke your mixture of herbs.
What are Glass Pipes and How Do They Work?
This most commonly used pipe resembles a spoon, hence the name. The glass pipes are hand-held and contain four main parts – the bowl, neck, carburetor, and mouthpiece.
You put the dry herbs into the bowl. You can find a small hole at the side of the dish that controls the airflow. When you cover the carburetor with a finger, the air is pulled in through the burning herbs. It is the process that produces smoke into the neck.
When you uncover the hole, air enters the carburetor and allows the user to inhale the smoke from the pipe using the mouthpiece. It results in a calming and relaxing effect throughout.
What Herbs Can You Use with the Pipe?
There are a few herbs that you can use to replace tobacco. They may not be as radical, but they are still pleasurable. These herbs produce a smooth and delectable smoke that gives a relaxing buzz.
Here are the most commonly used herbs that you can use with glass pipes.
Skullcap
Spreading perennial has a mild, calming effect when smoked. It is categorized as a medium smoke because of its relatively neutral flavor.
Uva-Ursi
Popular landscaping plant has long been smoked for ceremonial purposes by Native American tribes. This medium smoke has a robust and earthy flavor.
Mullein
A lung tonic is known to help stop coughing. This biennial herb has flowers that grow up to six feet tall. It produces an almost flavorless smoke, giving the feeling of extreme lightness and mildness.
Coltsfoot
This natural expectorant helps free phlegm from the lungs. It is a light smoke with a neutral flavor. Be careful when using this herb since high concentration can cause harsh coughing when used in smoking blends.
5. Mint
This herb is used to impart a fresh flavor to smoking blends primarily. You may experiment with its different varieties such as spearmint, chocolate mint, and peppermint.
6. Sage
Shrubby perennials are also used in smoking blends because of their flavor. You may try many varieties such as black sage, pineapple sage, or white sage. You have to be careful though with Salvia Divinorum, a type of sage that has psychotropic properties.
What are the General Guidelines for Using Herbs?
Use Mullein as your base for your smoking blends. Your mixture must contain about 50 percent of this herb.
Forty percent of your mixture must contain, Mugwort, Skullcap, Uva-ursi, or Coltsfoot. The herb that you want to add depends on what benefit you want to achieve.
Mints and sages will comprise the final 10 percent. They will serve as the flavoring for your blend.
If smoking makes you happy, it’s okay not to give it all up. There is a more natural way to get that calming effect by smoking herbs using a glass pipe. You get all the good stuff in and your stress out.
