SPARK Gala Benefits UC San Diego Health

The SPARK Gala, an annual UC San Diego Health highlight, returned to the Fairmont Grand Del Mar May 13th to ignite the fight against cancer. The evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing raised funds to benefit the Center for Personalized Cancer Therapy and Moores Cancer Center’s precision medicine endeavors.  Full of compassion, hope and inspiration, the event embodied the San Diego community’s power to make an impact on the future of cancer care. Hosted at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, the evening will include a cocktail reception, dinner and dancing and is open to the public.

Just as no two people are alike, no two cancers are alike. The Center for Personalized Cancer Therapy uses advanced molecular technologies to match patients with targeted cancer treatments in order to optimize response to treatment and minimize serious side effects. The approach calls for identification of mutations or other tumor-specific abnormalities in the patient’s genetic profile, then matches patients with a therapy tailored for that individual and type of cancer.
