Del Mar is filled with a variety of food options, from beach bars to cafés, to fine dining. Many of the restaurants in this community, just north of San Diego, are top rated and offer excellent options for lunch or a night out. Here are six of the hottest dining spots in Del Mar that will be sure to leave you with a full tummy and a happy heart.

  1. Jake’s Del Mar

 

Jake’s Del Mar is located right on the beach and offers a world-class view of the Pacific. This casual bistro serves American cooking, but with a unique twists on classic creations. They have a nightly Chef’s special, which includes the best in-season ingredients, as well as lunch, dinner, and a Sunday brunch menus.   1. II Fornaio Del Mar

II Fornaio is an excellent and authentic Italian restaurant in Del Mar. Serving fresh pasta, pizza, rotisserie meats, and more, they use a wood fire oven for a lot of their cooking, including freshly baked bread. Enjoy an espresso with your meal or browse the gluten-free menu. For you parents out there, a children’s menu is also available on top of their extensive meal options. Don't forget to save room for dessert, because II Fornaio has a wide variety of delicious sweets!

 

 

 

As described in the name, Brigantine is an infamous San Diego spot for amazing seafood. They also have great steaks and other meats to accompany their wide variety of marine dishes. Menu favorites include clam chowder and grilled swordfish. The atmosphere at Brigantine is serene with a luscious garden, making it perfect for events. They also have a more casual dining area for the daily lunch rush.

Another favorite, located right on the ocean is Pacifica Del Mar. They have an excellent selection of seafood dishes as well as steak and pasta. The setting is more relaxed and casual dining is welcomed on the deck. They also have a large wine list and have received acclamations in both the seafood and the wine catagoeries.

Prepkitchen has locations in Little Italy, La Jolla, and Del Mar, and offers trendy cuisine in a casual setting with great options for outdoor seating. They serve farm-to-table fare for lunch and dinner every day, as well as brunch on the weekends. They boast a great happy hour as well, making them an easy favorite for San Diego’s local crowds and a convenient spot for business lunches and dinner dates alike.

Poseidon Restaurant is another hot spot in Del Mar that offers an amazing view of the beach while you dine. Their menu is extensive and includes Lunch, Dinner, Brunch, Dessert, Bar Snacks, Cocktails, Wine menus, and more. They have many gluten free options that are clearly marked on their menu as well.
