Cellulite is not fat. Cellulite is the appearance of indentations on the skin when the connective tissues of the body, which are in charge of keeping the skin connected to the bone, become rigid and pull the skin closer to the bone, squishing the body’s fat layer and creating the appearance of indentations.
This means no matter how hard you work out, or how little you eat, if your connective tissue is taut, you will have cellulite.
My search for figuring out what increases the appearance of cellulite had me ask over 100 women what kinds of foods they believe increase cellulite. I’m happy to report I was unable to pinpoint any specifics. What I did come to find out is cellulite is more apparent right before a woman’s menses. This points straight to the second cause of cellulite: hormones. Women generally get cellulite for the first time when they enter puberty or when they get pregnant.
"Wait, Rebecca are you telling me I can stop working out and eat whatever I like because there is nothing I can do about my connective tissue or my menses?"
No, I am not. Keep up your workouts to increase strength, and here are two new things you can do to rid your hot body of cellulite.
Endermologie
This is a non-invasive therapy that stimulates and massages the connective tissue, which increases circulation, speeds up lymphatic drainage and restores collagen function, creating more elasticity. With more flexibility, the body detoxes more quickly, ridding itself of excess fluid, and the appearance of cellulite decreases!
Subcision
Cellulite treatment with subcision is another highly effective solution for reducing the appearance of cellulite. This is a minimally invasive procedure that targets the fibrous bands beneath the skin that contribute to the dimpled texture of cellulite. By releasing these bands through small incisions, subcision promotes smoother skin and improves the overall texture of the treated area. Subcision as a cellulite treatment has gained popularity for its ability to deliver noticeable and long-lasting results, making it a promising option for those seeking to diminish cellulite and enhance their skin's appearance.
Limit your hormone intake
Did you know that chemical sunscreens such as avobenzone mimic the hormone estrogen? Excess estrogen in the body can point to alterations in one’s endocrine system, which can affect one’s mood, appetite, sex drive, and sleep. Another easy way to limit hormone intake is to cut out processed foods, non-organic meat and dairy foods, and chemicals in your skincare products. Check our Veridatta’s Sunscreen Campaign, which is introducing a new organic sunscreen that color corrects to your tone.
See cellulite for exactly what it is.
If you’ve read any of my blogs before, you know I typically like to add a feel-good pointer at the end. Why? Because it works. If you can find an empowered thought pattern about yourself in any process of change, you are going to be more successful in making that change. Do not look at cellulite as something that you cannot change or cannot get a grip on. Look at it for what it is: cellulite is the tight connective tissue that gets worse with extra hormones!
Stop the chemical sunscreen application, get some endermologie, and put on your short shorts and feel like a babe. You deserve it.
