People either love or hate moving houses - there is no in-between!
The stress of having a million things to do can make it a daunting process.
At the same time, there is also the excitement of moving to a new place.
If you are not organized during the moving process- things can get complicated, messy and not enjoyable at all.
Let us take a look at some organization tips to make house moving a breeze!
Pack In Advance
This is probably one of the most common rules but you have no idea about how many people don’t follow it.
It typically starts with statements like:
‘We have three weeks left, plenty of time!’
‘Okay, two weeks should be enough?’
‘One more week, should we start packing now or can we finish it in the last few days?’
In the end, you will be cramming stuff into boxes wishing you had started weeks earlier.
To be on the safe side, make sure you start packing at least two weeks before your move.
Now it might seem like a lot of time, but trust me you will need it!
Throw Away Whatever You Don’t Need
It might not seem like you have much to throw after taking a look around.
But once you start cleaning up, you will come across a lot of junk or unnecessary things you won’t be needing for the new house.
Before you pack something, think twice about whether or not you will need it.
If it is a no, don’t pack it.
Leave space for the things you really need.
Be Organized
When you pack, make sure you do so in an organized manner.
Don’t take things from one room, mix them with things from another and put them in a single box.
Start with one room at a time. Group things belonging to a common group together - for example, books in one box and decor in another.
Label all your boxes before you pack things in them.
While packing clothes, using proper packing techniques will help you save a ton of space.
Take Care Of Important Paperwork
Don’t toss in your important paperwork like your birth certificate, work documents, identification and others with other items.
Keep them separately in a case or folder and take them with you instead of grouping them with the boxes.
Set Packing Goals For Each Day
Set a packing goal for each day.
This will motivate you to pack something every day even if it's not much.
Finishing daily packing goals will make sure you don’t cram everything at the last possible minute.
Pack Delicate Items With Caution
Not everything in your house should be packed in the same manner.
Fragile items like glasses, precious family heirlooms, gems or others should be properly packed with the recommended packing material and kept in a box marked fragile.
You can also use thick blankets or old clothes to keep them well cushioned.
If you have hired a household moving company, they will make sure to transport fragile items separately and safely.
Get Help
It doesn’t matter how independent or strong you pride yourself on being, packing up an entire house is not a one-person job.
You will need extra hands and strong ones!
If you are moving as a family, you will have helpers, but if you are moving alone, try asking your friends or neighbors for help.
The best option is to hire a good packing and moving company to help you move everything safely and you can be completely stress-free throughout the move!
Make sure to enjoy the entire process of moving because it doesn’t happen often.
Many people tend to get caught up in the rush and forget to enjoy the memorable moments in between so don’t forget to take plenty of breaks!
