Types of Buildings Constructed in the World

There are 5 types of building construction techniques all around the world. Here we are going to understand each type of building and what their advantages and disadvantages are.

  • Fire Resistive Construction: Fire-resistant construction is a type of building that is highly resistant to fire. Materials like concrete and steel are used in these types of buildings. The main aim of this type of construction is to minimize the spread of fire and to provide the people in the building enough time to exit the building before the fire spreads out. Buildings that are constructed using fire-resistive techniques are typically high-rise structures such as office buildings, hotels, and hospitals. Buildings have to align with the code of ethics of fire security and safety.

  • Noncombustible Construction: Noncombustible construction is a type of building construction that uses materials that are not easily combustible. These types of buildings are often seen in commercial areas and industries. Noncombustible buildings are less expensive than fire-resistive buildings, but they also provide a high level of fire protection. The materials that are used to make these buildings ensure it is nonflammable and safe for people to live in.

  • Ordinary Construction: Ordinary construction is a type of building that is made from brick, stone, and wood. This is a type of building that is commonly seen in residential areas and small commercial structures. Buildings constructed under ordinary construction processes are usually less expensive and offer less protection in the event of a fire. Ordinary construction is best for buildings that have a low fire risk.

  • Heavy Timber Construction: Heavy timber construction uses heavy timber for structural support. This type of construction is done on buildings that already have a timber frame such as cabins and lodges. The heavy timber construction can provide you with the aesthetic that you might be looking for. These buildings are less expensive than the other types of construction.

  • Wood Frame Construction: Wood frame construction uses a wood frame for the structure of the building. This is commonly used in residential buildings. The material used in these buildings can be prone to fire damage. Wood frame construction is good for those buildings that have a low risk for fire.

Builders have to analyze what type of building is best for the ideas they will be constructing. By looking into these different types of buildings you might get some knowledge about how construction valuation works.
