The Art of Italian Dining
Cori Trattoria Pastificio, nestled in the vibrant heart of North Park, is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary destination where Chef Accursio Lota and restaurant manager Federico Cavalleri have woven a tapestry of Italian gastronomy that captivates the senses from the moment you step in. North Park, San Diego, has rapidly transformed into one of the city's most dynamic and culturally rich neighborhoods, making it a fitting home for Cori Trattoria Pastificio. Known for its eclectic mix of historic architecture and modern influences, Cori Trattoria fits right in with it’s Italian flair and charm
Cori Trattoria Pastificio has not only weathered the storm of recent challenges of Covid closures and quarantines but has also emerged as a beacon of culinary excellence in San Diego. Since its inception in December 2019, the restaurant has continued to impress with its dynamic menu, exceptional service, and the inviting ambiance of both its indoor and al fresco dining areas.
A Sicilian Heritage in the Heart of North Park
Nestled within the vibrant neighborhood of North Park, Cori proudly embodies the essence of Southern Italy, with a specific focus on Sicilian cuisine. This family-operated gem has been delivering authentic Italian dining experiences for four years, earning a reputation for its commitment to tradition and quality.
As a bastion of Sicilian culinary tradition, Cori offers a menu that pays homage to the rich and diverse flavors of Southern Italy. The restaurant's dedication to crafting genuine Sicilian dishes but with a modern twist, provides a unique culinary journey, allowing patrons to savor the distinct and robust flavors that characterize this region's cuisine.
Tasting Menu: A Culinary Masterpiece

Because we were celebrating a special occasion, Federico crafted a custom tasting menu paired with a selection of wines to compliment, but not over power the meal. The tasting menu and the personalization at Cori Trattoria Pastificio is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence and innovation in Italian cuisine.
A Flavorful Beginning of Antipasti
Federico started us with FRITELLE, a savory doughnut, filled with Cacio & Pepe foam and dusted with Pipli black pepper, have been praised by critics for their perfect balance of crispy texture and creamy, peppery filling, creating a harmonious start to the meal. This was paired with a bubbly Proseco - Le Contesse
Putting his own spin on a traditional italian antipasta, Cori’s CARPACCIO is created with Koji-rubbed Wagyu, topped with Grana and Balsamico pearls, offers a sublime taste experience. Food critics have lauded this dish for its umami-rich Wagyu and the innovative use of Balsamico pearls that burst with flavor complemented by the crunch of pinenuts, creating a delightful contrast in textures.
Al Mattarello is Pasta Perfected
Every Italian restaurant is graded and compared on it’s pasta dishes, and Cori did not disappoint. We were presented with Chef Accursio’s variety of pasta noodles, SPAGHETTONI, featuring ancient grain and seafood carbonara. This dish won the Chef's World Championship in 2017 having critics rave about the al dente spaghettoni paired with the rich, savory flavors of the seafood carbonara, highlighting the chef's skill in creating a globally recognized masterpiece.

I will preface that I am not a food critic or a connoisseur, but I was blown away by the next dish. It was a traditional Ravioli but with a While I am not a food critic, but the Kabocha Squash ravioli and Duck Confit with Sage, was beyond words. The sweetness of the squash and the tanginess of the mostarda beautifully complement the savory duck confit. This mixture has received acclaim for their innovative flavor combinations. This was paired with a wonderful Fontanafredda Roero Arneis, but to be honest, as good as a pairing as it was, I did not want to wash away the flavor of the ravioli. I just wanted it to linger longer.
Main Courses with Distinction
Our culinary adventure into the world of Chef Accursio was culminated with an Agnello lamb chop that was delivered excellence. The lamb chops, praised for their succulent texture and the nutty crunch of pistachio, offer a sensory delight, further enhanced by the sweet and savory Nero D'Avola sauce.
I just had to stop Federico and compliment the saucier. Because the flavor of the Nero D'Avola sauce was delightful. But it was just not this sauce, it made me and my partner realize that every sauce in every course of our meal was matched and enhanced with exquisite talent. And trust me, I don’t use these compliments loosely. The mastery as the saucier was truly remarkable, consistently delivering sauces that are not just accompaniments, but the soul of every dish. The balance, depth, and harmony in your creations elevated the dining experience to an extraordinary level.

A Sweet Conclusion
It is at this point in the meal we were ready to stop, so satisfied and with taste buds that were fulfilled. But we still had one more course planned on this adventure. So we accepted our fate and our waistline and was presented with the Mousse Limone E Mirtilli. It was a lemon mousse with local passion fruit, blueberry and a bitter orange jam. I can only describe as a refreshing and innovative dessert. Critics adore the balance of tartness from the lemon and passion fruit against the sweet meringue and blueberries.
A Destination for Foodies and Socialites
After having a spectacular and relaxed meal, we thought we would explore the charms of North Park. The neighborhood's culinary scene is a significant draw, with food critics and enthusiasts flocking to taste the innovative dishes served in establishments like Cori’s. The area's thriving bar and craft brewery scene complement its gastronomic offerings, so we wondered off to Seven Grand Whiskey Bar for a night cap and then for a little musical experience, you should visit Part Time Lover. With an intriguing name, we just had to visit it as part of our North Park experience.
Integrating with the Local Vibe
Cori Trattoria Pastificio, with its authentic Italian ambiance and innovative cuisine, fits seamlessly into the North Park tapestry, contributing to the neighborhood's reputation as a burgeoning social hotspot. The restaurant embodies the spirit of North Park, offering an experience that is both sophisticated and welcoming, much like the neighborhood itself.

Reservations are highly suggested and recommended, as the place was full and bustling on a Friday night, but we never felt rushed by Federico and his staff. They took the time to explain each entree and a little history of the food and the wines. Just strike up a conversation with the staff and they will happily share the stories.
Living within one mile of his restaurant, this is more than just a destination for a meal, its a place to relax with friends and enjoy the ambience he has created. Chef Accursio and his family have made a home for themselves in this little alcove of San Diego. But the community has also given back and embraced this wonderful eatery.
