What to Wear Traveling to New York - Winter Time

Soon The Fall Will Have Made Its Way Out And Winter Will Make Its Debut. New York is one of the states where the weather changes very quickly from Fall to Winter. Not exactly fast, but it goes very quick from season to season. Some seasons staying longer than others but it is usually around this time of year when it starts to get chilly. Every individual is complaining that they cannot wait for Summer to disappear and want Fall to make its way in, but are they ready for Fall and then Winter? Our Fall and Winter can get brutally cold very quickly. As it seems that it may not get cold quickly, it does.

Parts of New York experience cold weather differently and most are chillier than others. However, if you are an individual who is around the city area quite frequently, you may want to bundle up when the seasons change from Summer to Fall. Manhattan has tall buildings and as it is not quite the "windy city", it does get windy and cold. Many around this time of year, especially women, tend to bundle up with scarves and some even hats. Around this time of year last year, I was wearing either a windbreaker or sweatshirt and a scarf.

I layer up very differently than most in New York but that is because I have lived in many parts of New York. Most of my life I grew up and experienced the Long Island/Westchester Fall weather. Once I graduated high school and moved up to Hyde Park, New York, for college, our seasons changed quickly. I could remember the fog on the Hudson River as that was where my college was located. The fog meant it would be a chilly day and you needed to bundle up. Therefore, I would normally have my chef whites and sometimes a windbreaker over my uniform. If not, I wore a scarf because our chef whites were quite heavy themselves. However, when winter took its role, I remember wearing many layers. I would have my chef whites, gloves, a hat, scarf, and maybe a sweatshirt and my north face jacket. It got pretty cold.

Nonetheless, the lower part of New York is not as cold but during the Winter, it will normally hit temperatures that Hyde Park would normally get especially Long Island. Just remember that Winter is just around the corner and even though I am in Southern California, that the wind chill will be taking charge. You will feel the warm/cold weather turning into pure COLD weather, so remember to bundle up with different layers. Many bundle up or rather layer up differently, but New York weather does not fail and it will be cold no matter what!

One reminder, the weather likes to play its own role and sometimes decide to be hot during this time of year or it will decide to be quite cold. Most days it will be very cold. Just enjoy this time of year, because I would be no other place than in New York for this time of year. It has got to be one of my very favorites and I truly miss it
