Whether you are camping or simply going for a hike, personal hygiene should always be on your mind. Luckily, nowadays, we have access to a wide range of products that help us stay clean and fresh even when there isn’t a shower or a bathtub in our vicinity.
But are you using the right products? And do you know when it’s safe to take a dip in nature?
If you’re not sure how to answer these questions, you need the tips we listed here:
#1: Clean Hands at All Times
We use our hands to touch, grab, reach, and handle many objects in our day-to-day lives. Now, wherever you go outside or use public transportation, you also touch surfaces that hundreds or thousands of other people have previously handled. As a result, the hands (specifically the tip of the fingers) are the most likely to carry germs, viruses, and other factors that can get you sick.
Moreover, you will involuntarily touch your face at one point or another, which increases the risk of infection.
Therefore, the best way to ensure your hygiene and health are at the highest level is to implement a rigorous hand cleaning program throughout the day. Use disinfectant wipes, hand soap and water, and other methods of hand sanitizing after each trip with the bus (just as an example).
When you’re camping or taking a stroll in the woods, make sure to get wet wipes and soapy water. Use the wipes while on the trail but do a thorough cleansing with soap and water when you get to the campsite.
#2: Take Care of your Sensitive Parts
When you’re traveling or enjoying the serenity of camping under the stars, it’s crucial to take care of your body as well. In this case, we are focusing on your most sensitive parts, specifically those requiring attention after going to the bathroom.
Most people would use toilet paper in such a situation, and while it’s not a bad option, it’s also not the best either. True, toilet paper is biodegradable and created for such use, but recent studies proved it doesn’t do the job as thoroughly as it should. Therefore, the most recommended solution is a bidet, so you can wash right after you’ve done your business.
Still, you can’t carry a bidet in your pocket, and there’s no such thing designed for camping. In this case, the best option is represented by biodegradable flushable wipes which will leave your bottom clean and fresh.
#3: Brush your Teeth
Just because you’re going to be camping in the woods, that doesn’t mean you can forgo the tools of civilization! In addition, if you’re not traveling alone, your companions are bound to notice any bad breath.
Luckily, there are many travel-sized teeth cleaning kits on the market. Moreover, some don’t even require water for cleaning as the ingredients in the toothpaste are safe to swallow. Of course, if you’re going to spend more time on the road, make sure to get some floss and other tools required to keep clean teeth and fresh breath.
Lastly, while it’s recommended that you brush and floss after each meal, it’s enough if you do it twice a day (in the morning and before going to bed).
Wrap Up
Now, the list of tips can quickly go on with products designed for cleaning the entire body when in the great outdoors, but the three ones mentioned above are crucial. Overall, as long as you take proper care of your hygiene, things should go smoothly regardless of your current traveling state.
