Finding inspiration most often leads to motivation – which, of course, ignites the much-needed passion and drive in attaining our goals (both short and long term in nature); a task that, if we are honest with ourselves, seems more like an uphill climb when action is involved. It takes a great deal of determination. YOU are the deciding factor in the equation, as you are the only one who can decide for yourself to move forward.
We all want great professional, romantic, and family lives, but may struggle with doubt, keeping us on that wheel; yet, carving out a different, more fulfilling path truly is possible. Stop waiting on other pieces to fall into place – the most important component is YOU! You realizing what you do and don’t want, why you are where you are and what you have to do to make a change.
No matter how often heard, writing out our goals is an important step in the process; the problem is, a majority of us skip this step, or if we do, we write them out in a way that keeps them in our future. We often "next month" ourselves for years. In my experience, I have found that the best way to approach goal-setting is by using the "Create Your Outcomes" model designed by The Academy of Wealth and Achievement. When putting pen to paper, consider your dreams, goals, and aspirations within the following context:
C: Concise and clear – The more specific, the more achievable.
R: Realistic – Make sure they are attainable.
E: Ecology – Ensure the goal is safe to you, others, and the planet.
A: "As Now" – This is a biggie. Write out your goal in the present tense.
T: Timed and toward the positive – Have a date in which it will occur.
E: End Step – Make sure you know when you have reached your goal.
Having employed this very model not only for myself but with my clientele as well, I can personally attest to its effectiveness. You do not have to figure it out alone; there are personal trainers to help us get fit, places of worship to fill our spirit, therapists to help us see deeper within ourselves – and even coaches, like me, who can help connect the dots in discovering life’s possibilities.
Believe that you deserve better and that you can create anything you decide. Make the decision to take the first steps to the fulfilling life you want TODAY!
Dream it. Live it. Be it.
