Reinvent Your Home with These Eye-Catching Design Trends

They say home is where the heart is; a refuge that shields us from storms and provides a calming oasis far from the maddening crowds.

Our homes represent stability and are an extension of our moods and tastes. Some people have refined palettes and choose to encapsulate their style in their home design.

Whether you’re into contemporary homes or leaning towards a timeless aesthetic, remodeling your house takes careful consideration and a team of experts to guide you through the process.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. The same applies to reinventing your home. Take a look at these design trends dominating the housing market.

Architectural Roofing

Embarking on a full home redesign means contemplating everything from the colors of your exterior walls to replacing the roof. It’s no use going all the way when there’s a disconnect between your home’s exterior and the roof.

Men’s Journal says homeowners are gravitating to asphalt alternatives as emerging trends point to natural finishes. Asphalt shingles are composite and present more like slate and wood shake.

Roof replacement costs can run into $11,000 and above for an average-sized home, says Forbes Home. The type of materials and design determines the overall amount. However, labor accounts for about 60% of your budget.

Roofing materials are calculated in two ways: per square foot or by the bundle. Estimating the size of your roof can be mind-boggling. You should hire a roofing contractor to give a definitive size based on hipped, gabled or flat design.

When choosing a roof contractor, opt for a highly recommended company specializing in roof replacements. They’ll also be best suited to advise you on which roof design is best for your home.

LA Roof Masters recommends hiring a roof replacement service that only uses top-quality materials to withstand harsh climates and weather conditions.

Country-Style Kitchens

Just when we thought country-style kitchens were disappearing into design obscurity, the 2025 Houzz Home Design Trends reignited our penchant for all things English.

Classic English country style creates a cozy, welcoming ambiance in the kitchen. After all, the kitchen is the heart of the home. For many family-centric homeowners, this design style is just up their alley.

The move to natural elements is evident in countertop materials like soapstone and butcher’s blocks. Reimaging large-range alcoves and wood ceiling beams marries the traditional with a contemporary twist.

Use collected looks that appear pieced together over time to get the balance just right, advises Mitchell Parker, Houzz senior editor.

Arches

On a cosmic level, arches are windowless portals that transport you from one dimension to another. Imagine how cool they’d look in your home.

A design aesthetic reminiscent of the seventies, the arch is very Austin Power and very kitsch. And that’s why we are besotted.

The organic modern style of arches adds playfulness and softens harsh angles.

Riga’s Dome Square recently underwent a magical transformation. Toms Kampars Studio’s Dome Next Door installation converted the UNESCO-listed site into a whimsical social hub for relaxation and interaction.

Integrating elements like medieval vaults and arched windows, Toms Kampars Studio reinterpreted historical structures while incorporating timber grids crafted from locally sourced, sustainable materials.

Envisioning arched hallways in your home is no longer a dream. Enlisting the help of an architect can make it a reality.

Artisanal materials

Homeowners are attracted to the allure of quality craftsmanship, and there’s a heavy shift towards wood, stone and brick accents.

Southern Living says artisanal materials and finishes will be more prevalent in homes. From handmade tiles to oxidized metals, these materials are thoughtfully combined to “create layered, tactile environments,” interior designer Jen Stevens tells the publication.

She adds it’s a celebration of honest materials and a move away from synthetic imitations. Artisan materials age gracefully and tell their own story through every crack and quirk.

Shower Rooms

Also on Houzz’s 2025 trending list, shower rooms are finally getting the attention they deserve.

Martha Stewert describes a shower room as a shower with a glass door leading to a fully enclosed space. The light and airy design offers enough privacy without feeling claustrophobic.

Now that bathrooms are replicating luxury spas, it’s only fitting that a shower room comes fully equipped with steam and sauna features.

Dramatic Staircases

Who said the Hollywood elite are the only ones allowed statement staircases? Forbes Home can’t stop raving about this home design trend and predicts it’s going big in 2025.

Design-build expert Anna Karp fittingly defines staircases as the spinal cord of a home.  Because of its position close to the entryway, your staircase gives the first impression of your interior. Yet, it’s often a neglected area.

Karp reckons this will soon change as homeowners see the value in a well-configured staircase. They’re making bolder choices, selecting handrail and baluster materials and colors.

Also, homeowners are getting innovative with staircases by blending modern designs with older styles. They’re updating traditional brownstone staircases with all-black paint for a contemporary look. If your home has a staircase that needs updating, go wild!

Integrated Cabinets

The shaker-style trend may be taking up space in the kitchen, but in the rest of the home, it’s experiencing a slow death.

Modern and flush finishes trump recessed cabinet fronts. The trend translates into bathroom vanities where paired-down and minimalistic beauty takes precedence.

Simple designs with integrated drawer pulls, flat fronts, and concealed handles create a sleek, sophisticated look.

Breaking Ground

Redesigning any home can become a nightmare of epic proportions. Unexpected costs could run into thousands. Sometimes moving something as simple as a pipe can cut drastically into an over-extended budget.

There’s having to deal with zoning permits and bi-city regulations. That’s why it’s important to bring a team of professionals on board from the moment you embark on your remodeling project.

Getting it right the first time saves you time, and wasted man-hours and money. Hire professionals you can trust with years of experience. Check out their credentials and referrals. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and keep an account of all expenses.
