With the hustle and bustle of the busy month of December, it’s always a great idea to take a day off and enjoy some time with family, friends or a significant other. There is no better way to have some fun while getting into the Holiday Spirit, than utilizing some of the great Holiday activities San Diego has to offer. We found some of the best and most affordable attractions in San Diego so that you can enjoy wintertime while still staying within your budget.
1.) Skating By The Sea-Hotel Del
Ice Skating is the perfect way to get into the Holiday Spirit, and what better place to do it than the Hotel Del Coronado? Skating by The Sea is the perfect place to go with friends or on a date to ice skate with a direct view of the Ocean and the beautiful Hotel Del. Even better, if you get there early enough, you can watch the stunning sunset while capturing some great pictures of the view. ($30, Hotel Del Coronado)

2.) Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!-Old Globe Theatre
The Grinch is a Christmas Classic. Everybody remembers watching this movie as a child and it is still a Holiday favorite. Here in Balboa Park, the Old Globe Theatre puts on an amazing production of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! every year, and it is a must see. Seeing this musical is a perfect way to get together with some friends. You can start the night off seeing this show and then get some dinner after to end the night. 3.) December Nights-Balboa Park
December Nights is the perfect way to begin this year’s Christmas Countdown. This festival is perfect for family and friends. This event includes lights, music, food and musical choirs. December Nights is a San Diego tradition beloved by many, don't miss out on this amazing event! (Dec 1, 3 pm-11pm & Dec 2, Noon-11pm, Free, Balboa Park)

4.) Ugly Sweater Bar Crawl- Pacific Beach
For all our 21+ friends, Pacific Beach is having an ugly sweater bar crawl December 7th, from 12-5 pm to get your holiday booze on! 6 bars are included in this crawl including PB Shore Club, The Wood, PB Local, Miller's Field, Duck Dive and Johnny V's. (December 7th from 12-5 pm, Pacific Beach)

5.) Candy Cane Lane-Poway
One of the best parts of the Holiday Season is all the amazing displays of Christmas lights. Candy Cane Lane in Poway is the perfect place to see magnificent Christmas lights on the street houses. Driving through Candy Cane Lane is a perfect way to feel the holiday cheer for free in the comfort of your own car. (Hickory Ct./Hickory St., 12659 Butterwood Ct. and Rockrose Ct.
