Black Friday has evolved into somewhat of a shopping sport. This year, millions will hit malls and stores looking to score some of the year’s best products for a huge discount. Here in San Diego, we are no exception. Here are some helpful leads to help you "win" Black Friday.
San Diego malls participating in Black Friday
Fashion Valley, Westfield Horton Plaza, Westfield Mission Valley, and the Carlsbad Premium Outlets will all open at midnight following Thanksgiving dinner. Each of these malls boasts dozens of stores with Black Friday deals ranging from free slippers at Victoria’s Secret to 50% off everything at PUMA. With nearly every store in each mall giving out the best deals of the year, you have a better chance of finishing all of your Christmas shopping at once - and at the best price possible.
San Diego electronics and entertainment stores.
Fry’s Electronics in San Diego and San Marcos will be open 5 PM - 9 PM Thanksgiving night and will have exclusive deals for those 4 hours. They reopen Friday at 5 AM with even more discounts. Each day leading up to Thursday, more and more deals will be revealed on their website, or you can sign up to receive email notifications as they release the rest of their discount list.
Best Buy, Walmart, and Target will be offering Black Friday-like deals earlier in the week, and some even let you "pay the Black Friday price" now (usually with free shipping), if you order online. But their best deals come from standing in line late Thursday night or early Friday morning. You can check out a detailed list of Black Friday discounts on their websites, and even start your Black Friday shopping now.
San Diego home improvement and home appliance stores.
Lowes, Home Depot, and Sears all have discounts on high-end power tools, home appliances, and more. Each store has its own special deals, and many are already available online. Both Home Depot and Lowes will be open at 5 AM Friday morning, while Sears will be open 6 PM Thursday night and will remain open until Black Friday. This is the perfect stop on your Black Friday to encourage some home improvement or upgrade old appliances.
Are video games on your list?
If video games are on your Black Friday list, America’s favorite video game store, Gamestop, will be open at 12 AM on Friday and will offer exclusive savings on everything from game console bundles, to controllers, to the latest games. The exact extent of the discounts are not yet unveiled, but check back to their website closer to Black Friday for the best deals from the gaming scene. Our review of the Best Game Consoles.
