3 Reasons to Install a Deadbolt Locking System

Safety inside of the home is a number one priority for many families. The one thing that everyone does the same is lock their door at night before they go to bed. Closing the door for the bed allows everyone inside a home and gives the security needed to fall asleep with no worries at night. Keeping the doors unlocked provides plenty of leeway for something tragic to take place.

Deadbolt Locks

In most cases, one single doorknob lock is not enough protection for the home or the people inside. Most homes come with the most basic design when it comes to doorknobs. This design consists of two short screws holding the faceplate into the frame of the door. Unfortunately, the screws are so fast that it makes it seem easy for intruders to break into the home. One way to enforce more safety is to replace those short screws with screws that are at least three inches long.

Often, having just one lock on the doorknob is not enough to reinforce safety within the home. Another way to provide more security is to install a deadbolt lock. Deadbolt locks are excellent for safety within a home. Deadbolt locks offer superior protection. According to the FBI, the majority of break-ins are done by force. Installing a deadbolt makes forced entry harder by using a system that can only be unlocked by using a key.

Deadbolt locks are also tested and approved by ANSI Grade 1 and UL 437 tests to ensure that the deadbolt lock will not fail in the chance of an attempted break-in. These tests include hitting the lock with a hammer ten times without failure. They also involve a series of tests to ensure that the deadbolt lock can also withstand attacks such as picking, prying, and drilling.

Installing Deadbolts Properly

Another way to protect the home and the people inside is to be entirely sure that the deadbolt lock is installed correctly. This can be done by simply hiring a locksmith to do the job. Locksmiths are trained explicitly to ensure the safety of a home by correctly installing deadbolt locks.

If a homeowner needs help finding a locksmith, the first step is to do an online search specifying precisely what one needs help with. Locksmiths are known for helping customers when they are locked out of their cars, but that is not the only thing they do. Locksmiths are also qualified and trained to install deadbolt locks into a home and ensure they work exactly as they should. Even though anyone can change locks themselves, it is always a more brilliant idea to hire a professional to do so, as homeowners can rest assured that it is done correctly.

Feeling safe inside of your own home is the best feeling in the world. However, whether one is moving into a new home and wishes to change the locks to enforce safety, or if they are installing a deadbolt to protect their home, even more, hiring a locksmith is the first step in providing security. Locksmiths are there to give a sense of safety for any customer at home, and installing a quality deadbolt lock does just that.
