6 Ways to Enjoy The Outdoors At Night

The great outdoors is by far the best place to be if you got time to spare. Exploring nature and spending time surrounded by it is hard to beat. That being said, most people spend time outdoors during the day.

At night, they are either sleeping comfortably in their beds or well on their way home. As it turns out, enjoying the outdoors during the night is incredibly fun, and today we'll show you six ways you can do it!

Enjoy the Sunset

Okay, this one could be classified as cheating, but every good night starts with a good sunset. We recommend that you find an excellent lookout point that allows you to gaze to the west. Depending on the season, you might want to prepare a cup of hot cocoa, some coffee, or maybe even a tasty dinner to enjoy the sunset.

There is something borderline magical about the colors of the sun's rays as they hit the clouds at a sharp angle. Make sure to check when the sunset occurs in your area so that you won't miss it.

Hang Festoon Lights

Festoon lights can give any outdoor space a dose of comfort. If you're looking to create a cozy atmosphere in your backyard, a simple festoon rig will do just fine. On the other hand, if you're looking to cover a larger area, running commercial-grade festoon lights is the way to go. When combined with a warm summer night, festoon lights create an unforgettable atmosphere that can facilitate all activities. Get your friends together and enjoy yourselves well into the night!

Stargaze

Stargazing is arguably one of the best activities you can partake in during the night. There are generally two ways you can do it. If you live in a remote enough area, all you need to do is step outside and turn off all the lights in your home. Those who live in urban areas will need to drive out of the city; otherwise, they won't get the full effect due to pollution.

To figure out how far you need to drive to find the right spot, consult a light pollution map. You can easily find it by googling your area with that keyword.

Listen to The Nightlife

6 Ways to Enjoy The Outdoors At Night

If stargazing is an excellent way of spending the night by utilizing your sight, listening to nightlife is a way of enjoying the outdoors by using your hearing. As you know, as soon as night falls, all kinds of critters come out of their hiding spots; your average forest comes to life.

Even though you can't exactly see the nocturnal wildlife, you can hear it. All you need to do is go far enough into the wilderness, find the right spot and lie low. The quieter you get, the quicker the wildlife will come to life

If you make noise or move all the time, the wildlife will react to your presence. If you blend into the environment, close your eyes and listen, you'll be treated with a harmony of sounds that you don't get to hear too often.

Light a Campfire

Campfires are traditionally a place of gathering. A warm night under the clear skies is a perfect opportunity to light a campfire, invite your friends and family, and maybe put on some food. Campfires will provide you with warmth if the night becomes chilly, while they also keep critters away.

If you're lighting a campfire in the wild, take note of rules in your area regarding fires on public land. Either way, always exercise caution when making campfires, no matter where they are. Keep away from objects and make sure that you have means of safely putting out the fire.

Do a Flashlight Hike

Hiking at night is a whole different experience compared to hiking during the day. It's entertaining and gives you a chance to have fun with a high-power flashlight. There are a few things you should think about if you plan on doing a flashlight hike.

For one, you need to know the area you'll be hiking. Don't go exploring unknown trails for the first time at night. Additionally, bring a flashlight, or a set of flashlights, powerful enough to give you plenty of light. You'll need it.

Embrace the Darkness

Nighttime can be scary, but it can also be fun. It all depends on how you approach it. The tips listed above will give your night a fun dimension. Best of all — these are just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many more activities you can do during the night!
