Unique Sites for Millennials to Scope Out in New York City

Imagine yourself walking through New York City experiencing the Autumn weather. You may be wondering where the best spots in New York City might be and what some of those places are like. They could be well-known spaces or even hole in the wall places. Whatever suits you is where you will enjoy the city the most. Any part of New York City is beautiful in every season. However, Autumn is the most beautiful. With the colors of the leaves making their debut and the weather changing, it is the most beautiful time to be visiting New York.

Throughout these last years, I have grown into a young adult and while I don't consider myself a millennial, I have great places that millennials would enjoy. You just have to look for them!

Every year for the last few years, my husband and I take a trip to New York City to discover the feel of Fall. This past year we discovered Central Park for the first time. Central Park is definitely a must go to place during this time of year. You will see and enjoy the beauty of nature first hand. On our last visit, we had the opportunity to stroll through the park and found some pretty unique stops along the way. We were able to feed the animals while sitting on the benches you see in every movie and just converse with each other. Central Park has to be one of the most peaceful places during this time of year. You can listen to the birds chirping and enjoy the peacefulness while it lasts.

There is, however, a specific stop I suggest to anyone who has never been to Central Park. Ginormous rocks located in the park are beautiful and are a great spot to overlook the park itself. Besides these rocks lie a tree with many signatures. Everyone walking by tries to carve his or her name into this tree and we did so as well. It is a very unique spot, and one of my favorite, experiences. If you are a young adult, or rather a millennial, you will enjoy this spot as well.

Most young adults who visit New York City do is visit the Union Square Farmer’s Market. This market takes place year-round on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. If you are looking for fresh and local produce, then you are in the right place. Many cling to this market because a lot of the produce is grown in either the Hudson Valley, which is just hours from the city, or in the surrounding tri-state area. From experience, this market has a wide variety and unique array of items. Some vendors sell fresh bread, herbs, greens, and produce. This is one site you do not want to miss. Visit early and try the chocolate milk from Ronnybrook Farm.

There are certain hotels and hot spots that young travelers like to stay in during their time in NYC. A lot of the many chain hotels these days are in the heart of Time Square. Most people know these chains since they are affordable, upbeat, and also have a homey feel to them. Plus, they provide breakfast and coffee for your way out. These hotels are the Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt. All are very modern and unique in their own ways and have been revamping their interior.

Young travelers like myself like to stay in a place where connecting to the internet is just a click away which is no problem at these convenient hotels. Most enjoy an upbeat, modern feel to their hotel room, as well as staying in the heart of the city. Learning about and feeling the culture of NYC is one thing that many from out of town may feel is too fast paced for them. However, experiencing the culture of New York City is the best feeling. You can easily get mixed in between the calmness and the hustle and bustle. Remember, New Yorkers are always on the go so don't feel ashamed if you are not as busy as those who live in the city.  

With the food scene being very big in New York, it is also known for having some of the best food. The city has some of the best hole in the wall places that are making a name for themselves through social media. With social media being a tool for rising restaurants and a best friend to young adults, these "hole in the wall" places are becoming quite popular. Some of the best places to visit are Black Tap Burgers, Eataly, Doughnut Plant, Cookie DO, Union Square Café, and Momofuku Noodle Bar. These restaurants, to-go dessert places, and bakeries are up and coming and still unknown to many. 

All of these establishments are growing tremendously and young adults are clinging to many of these places. We cling to these places because most provide a quick meal, or in some cases, an ethnic meal with a feel for the country you are dining within. These are the most popular places today and ones that many are enjoying most. Maybe it has to do with how we grew up. I know I grew up eating cookie dough off the paddle, so why not sell cookie dough you can eat that won't harm your insides? Or trying differently flavored doughnuts you can indulge in once in a while or even experiencing a luxury meal from one of the best restaurants in NY. These are just some of the best places to get a quick meal and enjoy an ethnic feel, but those that have grown from a hole in the wall to a big name!

As the seasons are changing and you are looking for unique places to visit in New York City, remember that a wanderer is never lost and you won’t regret your experience at some of the best and unique places. Fall is a beautiful time to visit the Big Apple; especially as a young adult trying to discover new foods and places that are new and upcoming.
