A Map of the Best Wineries in Paso Robles

Centrally located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Paso Robles is California’s fastest-growing wine region comprised of more than 200 wineries within a 40-mile territory. A list of wineries in Paso Robles.

4. Tablas Creek Vineyard

Tablas Creek is the realization of the combined efforts of the Perrin family and Robert Haas, founder of Vineyard Brands. Named to "Wine Spectator’s" 2011 Top 100, the 2009 Côtes de Tablas is a blend of four estate-grown Rhône varietals: Grenache, Syrah, Counoise, and Mourvèdre. Another signature wine, the 2009 Esprit de Beaucastel has a deep, spicy nose with dark fruit, crushed rock, cocoa and licorice, while the palate shows blackberry, black raspberry, and currant fruit.

Kick off the festival Friday night with a five-course Tablas Creek wine dinner at Thomas Hill Organics. On Saturday, join them in the Park for the Reserve and Grand Tastings of their newest Rhone varietals and blends. Located on 9339 Adelaida Rd, Paso Robles, CA

3. Justin Vineyards & Winery

One of the largest producers in Paso Robles, JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery has focused their efforts on producing world class Bordeaux style blends. JUSTIN’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon has a bold, black fruit-cassis nose with a sweet vanilla note from American oak. Aged 16 months in French and American oak, it is dry and mouth-filling, with a long, generous finish. Aged 24 months in French oak barrels, the 2009 ISOSCELES has an alluring, rich mix of ripe black currants and berries faceted with vanilla, cinnamon and cocoa highlights. Full-bodied and complex with multiple black fruit elements, the finish is extremely long. Located on 11680 Chimney Rock Rd, Paso Robles, CA

2. L’Aventure Winery

The spirit of L’Aventure is most evident in owner and winemaker Stephan Asseo’s Optimus and Estate Cuvée, both Cabernet Sauvignon / Syrah blends. Aging in French oak and a minimal racking program contribute much to Stephan’s artisan, handcrafted style. The 2009 L’Aventure Estate Cuvée has intense aromas of cola, licorice, and wild blackberry, while the palate revels in fruit, and the finish is shaped by graphite, acacia, and cardamom. Deep ruby-pomegranate in color, the 2009 L’Aventure Optimus exhibits aromas of blueberry, blackberry, and cassis, with underpinnings of graphite and tea leaf. Dense flavors of cola nut, blackberry, and currant are enveloped by tobacco and tea leaf, while cocoa and coffee are hiding above a long finish of vanilla and spice. Located on 2815 Live Oak Rd, Paso Robles, CA

1. Chateau Margene

Chateau Margene is a boutique, micro winery (total annual production around 3,000 cases) specializing in the creation of very small lots of luxury Cabernet Sauvignons and Bordeaux-style blends; while their Mooney Family label produces luxury Pinot Noirs and Rhone blends. Signature wines include the 2006 "Reserve" Cabernet Sauvignon, which has aromas of black currant, cocoa, and toasted oak, and a rich, full mouth-feel with an extended finish. The 2009 "Reserve" Pinot Noir, with aromas of black cherry, plum, spice, cola, and vanilla has exceptional balance through the mid-palette to a long, bright finish. During the festival, they will be pouring three new releases, providing winery tours, and uncorking a couple library wines as well. Located on 4385 La Panza Rd, Creston, CA
