Broadway San Diego produces Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Broadway San Diego produced a fantastic production of the Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, preformed at the San Diego Civic Center, June 24-29. Staring in the performance is Diana DeGarmo, as the Narrator and Ace Young, as Joseph. After being a contestant on American Idol DeGarmo took the journey to Broadway and stared in many shows. Ace Young was a contestant on Idol as well and later expanded into a professional broadway career. The two leads are married and together wowed the audience in their duet of "Any Dream will Do". DeGarmo’s voice shined, vocal dynamics showcased in a range of octaves as she sang about how anyones dreams can come true. She really reached out to and engaged with the audience. Young’s expressions really took you inside his story. Your heart sang for Joseph as he sang the beautiful, "Close Every Door" just after being thrown into prison.

Coming soon to San Diego Broadway, "ONCE" Aug. 12 - 17

The highlights of the performance were, "Those Canaan Days", and the "Joseph Megamix". The brothers produced a humorous French interpretation of "Those Canaan Days" in a french accent. Paul Castree led the song and conducted the brothers as a choir while the audience cracked up at how Castree conducted them. Also, they preformed a stop number with plates and silverware at a table which was flawless. The applause for that number carried out for a while and it was well deserved. The "Joseph Megamix" was a medley of all the songs in the show and it was so upbeat and fun as the talented dance ensemble danced along. It was a marvelous finale to the performance. The Dance ensemble was very poised and precise and the brothers were spectacular actors.
The Musical was directed and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler and The music was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber as well as the lyrics were written by Tim Rice.
