The holidays are a wonderful time to wrap up the year with gatherings, festivities and charitable eventsand 2014 certainly had its share. Here are some of the highlights from the most purposeful and memorable fundraisers, parties and galas in San Diego. 

The Ideal Match Holiday Soiree 

La Vencia Hotel, La Jolla

It was a magical night of dancing and dining! The Ideal Match presented their Annual Holiday Soiree at the lavish La Valencia Hoteli in La Jolla. With a live band, breathtaking ocean views, a larger than life Christmas tree and thousands of twinkling holiday lights, there was certainly love in the air!

San Diego Art Foundation's Holiday & Christmas Gala

La Jolla Farms Mansion Home, La Jolla

On December 6, 2014 San Diegans gathered at La Jolla Farms Mansion Home to celebrate the Christmas season and the arts at San Diego Art Foundation's Holiday & Christmas Gala. Guests were asked to bring an unwrapped toy or can of food to donate to the Salvation Army as part of their entrance fee. Party attendees, dressed in Christmas attire, enjoyed dancing, music, art from local artists, a Red Carpet photo shoot, and a silent auction to benefit the Arts Foundation.

San Diego Las Hermanas' Canvas and Couture: Where Fashion and Art Meet

The Centre, Escondido

San Diego Las Hermanas organized a luncheon on November 15th at the Centre at Lexus Escondido to raise money for local charities, including Fostering Opportunities Dollars for Scholars, Include Autism, and the Boys & Girls Club. The event featured a live art performance by Stephen Fishwick and Beau Hufford. Las Hermanas is a nonprofit organization whose aim is to reach out to children in need in San Diego's East County community.

City Ballet's Nutcracker Corporate Evening

Spreckels Theatre, San Diego

Over 100 current and future or patrons of the City Ballet of San Diego were treated to a special performance of the Nutcracker. It was all part of the organizations corporate networking night. San Diego business leaders and their guests took part in the "invitation only" post show Champagne reception. They had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the ballet's creative team, show dancers and premier patrons.

Casa de Amparo's 16th Annual Crystal Ball Gala

Del Mar Country Club, Rancho Santa Fe

The 16th Annual Crystal Ball Gala returned to the Del Mar Country Club on November 1st to benefit Casa de Amparo (Home of Protection), a leading nonprofit organization that provides various programs to treat and prevent child abuse and neglect in the San Diego County community. To tell her own transformation story, former Casa de Amparo client Yadira Menendez appeared at the event as a beacon for other struggling addicts. There were spectacular live auction items including a trip to the 2015 Master Golf's Tournament, NCAA Final Four Championship tickets and a stay at the historic Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

EverBank's "The Teddy Ball"

Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa, San Diego

Donated cuddly teddy bears were on showcase at Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa for the "Teddy Bear" charity event held on November 29th. EverBank teamed up with NFL Alumni Association's San Diego Chapter and Rady Children's Hospital to put together an exclusive black-tie event to collect stuffed toys and raise money for children in need. Among the distinguished attendees were retired NFL players abd reputable industry leaders. For admission, lucky guests were issued golden tickets and asked to donate at least one stuffed animal, the biggest of which would be chosen by the audience as winner of their aptly-named "Who's your Teddy?" contest. With over 1,500 guests, they trumped their previous teddy count by collecting over 1,000 bears.
