Sometimes the longer you’ve been with someone, the harder it is to think of something fun to do with them. We have a tendency to get comfy and complacent with the old "Netflix and chill." But it’s also important to get out and add a bit of excitement to your love life. Plan a special date night or maybe even an all-day activity together. Winter can be especially difficult for adventurous date ideas, but no fear. Here are some suggestions for fun winter dates.
Snowmobiling
Feel the thrill and energy of high speeds by renting snowmobiles and making a day out of it. Get closer to nature as you speed through the wonders with your significant other. Feel the delightful sting of cold air on your face and hear the roar of the engine between your legs as you zoom through the forest over the deep snow together. Go where no one else can go (because the snow is too deep to get there without a snowmobile) and feel like the only two people that exist for a little while.
Building a Snowman
Walk through a winter wonderland to find the freshest snow. Keep it simple and spend the afternoon being creative and taking advantage of nature’s playful gift, that glorious powdery white snow, by building a snowman (or whatever snow creation you desire). There’s something about building with snow that makes us feel young and carefree again. Experience this feeling with your special someone for the afternoon and who knows, maybe you’ll end up in a playful snowball fight.
Ice Skating
Combine one of the staples of a romantic and sweet date night with some good exercise in the form of ice skating. Glide hand-in-hand across the ice, feeling the cool air wisp at your hair and face. Twirl each other around in giddy delight as you each experience the illusion of weightlessness that is skating.
Sledding
Another fun and exciting activity guaranteed to transport you back to childhood is sledding. Remember how it feels to be excited about the simple things and be carefree again. Spend the afternoon feeling the rush of sledding down those steep, snowy hills and then go inside and have a nice cup of cocoa or hot apple cider by the fire. There’s something about the smell of fire and cocoa that soothes the soul.
Carriage Ride
For the ultimate romantic evening, take a horse-drawn carriage ride together. Snuggle up under a warm blanket, hear the clip-clop of the horse pulling you along through the beauty of winter, and spend some true quality time together. This is the ideal winter activity to set up the mood for deep conversations. Feel like the cheesy couple in a wintertime jewelry commercial as you smile, laugh and enjoy each other.
Whether it’s an elaborate and exciting daylong activity or a simple rendezvous followed by just being together and enjoying the wonder of it all, pick one or more of these activities and have a fantastic snowy time with your favorite person. In the end, the most important thing is to be together doing things you both enjoy.
