Exploring Beyond the Californian Border

San Diego is an amazing place to live, and the state of California has a wealth of entertainments and visitor attractions. It’s a vibrant, beautiful place to live, and there’s no shortage of things to do. But there’s also a whole wide world beyond the borders to explore. You don’t have to go too far to explore our sister states of Nevada and Arizona, and it’s only a hop, skip and a jump over to Mexico. Mexico

Californian beaches are famous for the quality of the sand, the warmth of the ocean and the fantastic surfing waves! Mexico has over six thousand miles of coastline, so there’s plenty of opportunities to ride some new waves, go snorkeling and scuba diving, fishing, or simply soaking up the sun on the beach.

You can drive over the border as it’s so close, but to get further into the country flying is the best option. Mexico has a fascinating past, and there are many historical monuments, ruins and museums to explore. It’s also a land with a rich and colorful culture and history in the creative arts. Nevada

Nevada is home to the glorious Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America and a perfect destination for all manner of water sports. It’s surrounded by a beautiful wilderness of forests and mountains, and indeed Nevada has many stunning landscapes to explore, like the Spring Mountains, Mount Charleston Wilderness Area, Tule Springs fossil beds, Lake Mead and the Red Rock Canyon. For a man-made spectacle, you can’t beat a trip to the Hoover Dam at Boulder City. If you’re more of a city lover, then Reno and Vegas are world-renowned hotspots for bright lights and entertainment.

Arizona

If you’ve never visited the Grand Canyon, you’re missing out on one of the wonders of the world. It’s not the only spectacular site in the state though, which is home to the Kartchner Caverns, the Petrified Forest, and Monument Valley to name but a few. If you’re the outdoors type, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, and you could go rafting along the Colorado River at the foot of the Canyon. History buffs can see the site of the largest civil war battle to take place in the state at Picacho Peak State Park. City-lovers can explore Phoenix and Tucson, or for a more relaxing stroll about town try Flagstaff or Sedona.

All three of these locations are packed with things to do and sights to see, and being neighbors the traveling is no barrier to getting out and experiencing everything these amazing places have to offer. Your only problem will be in trying to decide which one to visit first!
