Travel Inspiration Comes with Travel and Adventure Show

The start of a new year is an opportunity to remind ourselves of where we would really want to go for our next vacation. Travel and Adventure Show, held annually in January in San Diego, is the place to get ideas, traveling advice, and start planning your new adventure at your dream destination.

We chose to spend our Sunday at the Convention Center absorbing all the tips and tricks from world travelers, celebrity speakers, authors, and at the end of the day we got to know the world a bit more. Fifth annual Travel and Adventure Show brought five remarkable stages with hundreds of booths where each continent got to shine their best among the "hungry" visitors. The Travel Theater stage, where all the celebrity speakers held the spotlight and were alternating with an equal amount of success, attracted the most audience.

Samantha Brown, the host of PBS’ show "Places to Love", opened the Travel Theater corner on Sunday with her speech and presentation where she shared her motto to inspire people to travel more and get more travel experience. Brown introduced the concept of the emotional value of travel and reminded us of some locations she thinks should be considered to visit that not a lot of people thought of visiting. One such place is Huntsville, Alabama, where Brown promise you could actually meet the man who sent twelve men to the Moon and who you could talk to at the Space and Racquet Museum.

Peter Greenberg, an Emmy-Award-winning investigative reporter, took over the Travel Theater platform where he gave his insight on what smart travelers need to know to navigate the world. He revealed the fact that only 37 percent of Americans own a passport and mentioned that last year was actually the safest year to travel. With those facts, Greenberg continued to share his advice on how important is to do research on the advisors' websites before we make a decision on where to travel. He accentuated that the best and safest time to go anywhere in the world is right after a natural disaster when you can actually help with pretty much anything you are willing to do when you’ll actually meet some incredible people, and get a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Pauline Frommer from Frommer’s Guides was the third key speaker on the Travel Theater where she gave a lot of detailed travel spending tips. She covered everything, from which hotel booking sites to avoid and which ones have the best deals, what are the best sites to shop for travel insurance, and where to get the best deals for car rentals while on vacation. Frommer also suggested her list of best places to visit this year like New Orleans who is celebrating their 300th anniversary of the city’s founding in 2018 or unique countries like Columbia and Jordan.
