THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE GOING TO THE UNITED STATES

Summer is almost here, and a lot of people have started thinking of places to visit for their summer vacation no doubt the United States is going to make it to the list of places to visit for the vacation. However, before visiting the U.S., it is best to know about the country’s history, climate, places, language, and most importantly, the rules and their requirements for traveling or immigrating, just in case you are thinking of settling in the country.

The United States of America is the fourth largest country in the world, comprising of about fifty states. The U.S. is blessed with a lot of interesting historical facts. The country was the first country to gain independence from European powers in 1983.

Aside from the country’s history, the most important thing to know before going to the United States is the travel rules and regulations or their requirements. The United States has very strict rules when it comes to letting people in and out of their country.  First, you would have to apply for a VISA or an ESTA if you are from a VISA waving country or make sure you have an international passport if you are only visiting. The U.S. government has a strict ‘No criminal record’ so make sure your records are clear.

After you have successfully got your VISA on your passport and you are getting ready to travel, you need to find out how to adapt to the environment, people, language, climate, etc. There are certain things we need to understand. They include:

1. Different Laws for the Different States

Irrespective of the fact that we are all humans in control of our movement and behavior and shouldn’t be taught how to live, there are still different rules that guide our behavior. You might have already been familiar with the laws of where you are coming from, but those laws are different from the laws of the United States of America.  You might even start breaking the rules at the airport, so if you want to enjoy your stay in the United States, it is advised that you become familiar with their state's rules and to avoid spending your time behind bars or being thrown out of the country before you are ready to leave.

2. The United States has over 50 States

When the name comes up, most people mistake it for being just a state; thereby you hear a lot of people saying they are going to the USA, but what they don’t know is that the USA is a country with 50 states and also has different cities. This makes the country the fourth largest country in the world, with over 300 million visitors each passing year. Some of the most beautiful and most visited cities in the U.S are Las Vegas, (which is said to be the home of Hollywood), Los Angeles, New Orleans, and New York which is known as the Black City by most people because of its large population of Black Americans. So before visiting the USA, you should be familiar with the beautiful states and cities and then make your pick on where to spend your time

3. Language

If you have an idea or basic understanding of the English language, then it wouldn’t be so hard for you to communicate in America. Although the country speaks mainly two languages which are English and Spanish 80% of the country’s population speak English, so it is safe to say that the official language of the United States of America is English.

4. The United States of America is very accommodating;

   it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from. Racism can never really be removed, but in the case of America, it is mostly about individual mindsets and not of the country in general. The country welcomes all human race, religion, and sexuality. So as a gay man or woman, as a black person  or white, as Christian or Muslim, you can be accepted into the United States
   
   

5. America has strict visiting rules;

   you are not allowed to stay over the time you are supposed to, and breaking this rule might bring arrest and deportation
