When it comes to home design and decorating, all the little décor pieces are what can really set the tone in your space. If you’re trying to create a luxurious vibe in your home but you don’t necessarily have the budget to match the goal, then these inexpensive DIY home décor projects may be exactly what you’re looking for. With just a little work, planning, and creativity, you’ll be able to create that luxurious feel you were going for without having to spend a fortune.
Jazzed Up Wall Art
Wall art can do absolute wonders for a room taking it from blah and drab to something unique and spectacular. The problem with artwork is that it isn’t usually cheap, so it may not be in the budget. If you want more than one piece for a room, then it’s really going to put a dent in the wallet. Instead, with a little bit of work on your part, you can transform a relatively inexpensive item into some very expensive looking artwork.
For this project, you’ll want to find some artistic posters that speak to you. Maybe they are from artists that you love or who are trendy right now, perhaps the colors in the poster appeal to you, or maybe you just find the piece interesting and unique.
Posters typically come in a few standard sizes, so the next step is really easy. Visit your local craft supply store and pick up a frame that matches the poster and your room and frame it yourself. This project will cost a fraction of the price of an expensive painting, which also means you can probably afford to frame a few different posters.
Make Your Own Built-Ins
Built in shelving adds drama and luxury to any room, but custom shelving is notoriously expensive. What if we told you there was a way to fake this look and still achieve the drama at a fraction of the price? All you'll need for this project is a couple tall bookcases.
You can either use the standard sized bookcases and purchase two of them or opt for the more narrow ones and purchase four. Next, you want to place them all next to each other and then secure them to the wall and each other. You don't want anything wobbling. It should look like one continuous shelf. You can paint them to match your walls, or leave them white, whatever you prefer. You’ve now got a luxurious looking built-in bookshelf that will store all kinds of cool items.
Create Your Own Designer Dishes
Designer dishes can add a pop of color and interest to your kitchen, and automatically make it seem luxurious. Why not design your very own? All you’ll need is a set of inexpensive and basic white dishes, paint brushes, and paint. You can even pick up the dishes at a local dollar store.
When you paint your design don’t worry about it being "perfect" because the draw about hand-painted dishes is that they are all unique.
Save Yourself the Money
Thanks to these simple DIY projects luxury décor doesn’t have to mean a high ticket price.
