Who doesn't love helping children all while watching a stunning fashion show and mingling with NFL players? Lynell Hamilton, the founder of Hamilton’s Heart Foundation, presents the first annual "Heart For Fashion Show" benefiting the largest children’s hospital in California, Rady Children's Hospital on July 16th. The event will take place from 5pm to 9pm at the Bentley La Jolla Showroom. However, this is no ordinary fashion show. The event is giving children with disabilities the chance to be the models for the night and stride with confidence down the runway. "These children will get a chance to do something very special," says Lynell Hamilton. "We want to provide a beautiful event that they will remember for the rest of their lives. The staff of Hamilton’s Heart and former NFL players in attendance look forward to giving a voice and stage to those that desire it."
Hamilton was the youngest of three children born and raised in Stockton, California. In 2009 Forbes magazine stated that Stockton was the most miserable city to live in due to the poverty level, high unemployment rate, and violent crimes. At the age of nine, Hamilton found his passion for football and became one of the top prospects from his hometown. Failure was not an option for him. With a 3.6 high school GPA and more than 43 scholarships, Hamilton made the decision to play football for San Diego State University where he played as a running back his freshman year. That year, he was named Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year. He later went on to earn a Super Bowl championship ring with the New Orleans Saints.
Shortly after his big win, Hamilton was inspired by his father and the support that he was given to succeed in his career as a running back. Wanting to be an encouraging father himself, Hamilton decided to help children with disabilities and those who come from underprivileged homes.
Since the start of Hamilton’s Heart, the foundation has grown and plans to continue growing. They would like to expand their help to children from military families, the homeless, and youth who are aging out of the foster care system. They believe that "every child deserves a chance. Every child deserves access to the tools they need to create a bright future. When provided opportunity and acknowledgement all youth can succeed – no matter the surrounding circumstances." The foundation has worked with private agencies, schools, churches, and local advocacy groups to raise funds and accept in-kind donations on behalf of economically disadvantaged children and those with disabilities.Â
The fashion show is sure to be a hit and inspire others to lend a helping hand. Why wouldn’t you want to join in on the excitement, try samples of gourmet cuisine and handcrafted cocktails, and chat up former NFL players while bidding on fabulous auction items? Sounds pretty simple and fun to me! Come out for a night full of fashion, fun, and compassion as they raise funds for the largest children's hospital in California. You wont want to miss this inspiring event as the children take the stage by storm and strut their stuff! Tickets are available online at Hamilton's Heart Foundation for $75. Ticket prices will be $85 at the door, so get your tickets now! If you're interested in donating to support the Heart For Fashion event, please call (619) 200-1472.
