New Range Rover SUV Drops the Top

There’s nothing quite like experiencing the wonders of Mother Nature to evoke the passion and play of your inner wild child, and there’s no better way to do so than going topless in the style and comfort of your own rugged, yet luxurious, off–road capable, four–wheel drive convertible.

Coming to the U.S. market this spring, a brand new member of the iconic Land Rover family sprints onto the sales floor with the sprite and sporty look of an SUV, cross–bred with a sleek and sexy hot rod convertible. The 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible is designed for fun in the sun—or snow or mud —during the day, then cleans up nicely for a stylish evening out on the town.

And everywhere the Evoque meanders, heads are already turning to check it out—especially those of women who are interested in combining style with substance to prove that, much like themselves, their ride is much more than just a pretty face.

The angular exterior of the two–door design—reminiscent of a lady’s high cheekbones—gives the Evoque the look of a vehicle in motion, even while standing still. Its skirt is lifted well above most street–dwelling sedans, allowing for a splash through knee–deep water when the mood and moment strike your fancy.

Designed with a special Z–folding roof system that lets the outside in at the mere touch of a button, the Evoque is ready for fun at a moment’s notice. The acoustically insulated crown opens and closes in less than 20 seconds, even if you’re cruising at speeds of up to 30 mph.

"The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is a convertible for all seasons," says Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer. "It is a unique combination of design leadership and world–class engineering that adds another dimension to the Range Rover Evoque name, further enhancing its desirability and appeal."

As the fifth member of the Range Rover family, and the first ever 4X4 convertible, the highly desirable new model combines traditional Range Rover luxury with a distinctive four–seat design and versatile storage. In order to minimize rollover risk with the top down, Land Rover has designed a special Roll–Over Protection Device that deploys a pair of hidden roll bars within 90 milliseconds of an accident to help create a survival space for passengers.

Unlike most convertibles, the roof system does not impede upon cargo space as the Range Rover offers a generous trunk for traveling and camping gear, and the fabric roof is the longest and widest currently fitted to any vehicle on sale today. Once the roof is lowered, discreet hinged panels located at the rear of the interior fold flush to conceal the mechanism, ensuring Evoque’s contemporary lines retain a clean and uncluttered appearance.

The Evoque convertible is available with Land Rover’s full suite of lightweight, all–aluminum, four–cylinder turbo-charged gasoline and diesel engines. Diesel power comes from Land Rover’s 2.0–litre Ingenium engines, which provide highly efficient and refined performance with fuel economy of up to 55 mpg and low CO2 emissions.

At the heart of the high–class cabin is a new, high– resolution 10.2 inch touch-screen with Jaguar Land Rover’s next–generation infotainment system, called InControl Touch Pro, featuring highly–responsive and super–fast seamless smartphone integration, door–to–door navigation, 3G connectivity and a premium sound system.

Noteworthy features include Xenon headlamps with LED signature and automatic leveling, 18 inch, 7–spoke "Style 706" wheels with a sparkle finish, 5–inch screen for driver information in the instrument cluster, Oxford leather seats with 12–way electric memory for driver and passenger, 660 W Meridian surround sound system with 12 speakers plus subwoofer and tri–color ambient mood lighting. The base Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price for the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is $51,470, including destination fee, while the top–of–the–line Evoque Convertible featuring the HSE Dynamic package retails for $58,270, including shipping.

The next time the mood strikes for some outdoor adventures without sacrificing luxury, drop the top and start roving over your favorite range with the full confidence that you can handle whatever Mother Nature has in store.
