Sherlock Holmes and the Adventures of the Great Nome Gold Rush

He is the world’s greatest detective, and he is solving his next mystery in a new theatre production! Sherlock Holmes is on a journey to prove his client is innocent of murder by traveling to the Wild West frontier town of Nome, Alaska. Instead, Holmes ends up at a bar run by Wyatt Earp. We've found crucial evidence that shows the production, Sherlock Holmes and the Adventures of the Great Nome Gold Rush, will make its world premiere on January 16th and run through February 7th, 2016. The Sherlock Holmes production will show at the North Coast Repertory Theatre in Solana Beach.

The production, written by Joseph Vass, is said to be an adventure full of intrigue, mystery, deception and duplicity. Upon further investigation and sleuthing, we have discovered that Vass has other works under his belt. He previously wrote and arranged music for Words by Ira Gershwin and created The Soul of Gershwin: The Musical Journey of an American Klezmer. The book, music and lyrics for the musical Mishegass! were also written by Vass. He has composed music for stage productions The Chosen and The Last Seder, and for the film I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors. 

This new, original play is directed by a veteran of over 250 productions, David Ellenstein. Previously serving as an artistic director for the Los Angeles Repertory Company and the Arizona Jewish Theatre Company, Ellenstein has been an artistic director at North Coast Rep since 2003. 

Special previews of "Sherlock Holmes" begin on January 13th and run through the15th, with opening night on January 16th, which includes a post–show reception. A special viewing of the show on January 22nd will have a talk–back with the cast and Ellenstein. Sherlock Holmes will set out on his journey to the west on Wednesdays at 7 pm, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 pm and Sundays at 7 pm through February 7th. The North Coast Rep offers a $3 discount for seniors, students and military. Subscription packages are also available online for theatergoers interested in the rest of the season.
