Some destinations are simply better-suited for first-time trips as a couple. What you’re looking for is a destination that’s easy to reach, easy to get around, and — this is important — that offers a whole lot of fun.
We’d also recommend that it’s best to visit a city that neither of you have visited before, so that it’s a completely shared experience. For that, take a look at those destinations that are often underrated, including Minneapolis, Charleston, and Athens.
Book Somewhere Special
There are times when it makes sense to book budget accommodation. Your first trip as a couple is not it. The right accommodation sets the tone for the trip, allowing you to enjoy spending time in the hotel while also ensuring that you can easily reach the places you’re planning on visiting. It’s worth stretching the budget slightly to get a lovely boutique hotel with a central location. You won’t regret doing so, but you might regret it if you don’t!
Fun Nights On the Town
There will be space for romantic moments on this trip (more on them below!), but it’s also important to incorporate plenty of fun into your first getaway together. If you’ve chosen a fun destination like the ones we’ve mentioned above, then that should be pretty straightforward to achieve, provided you have a fun and adventurous attitude. Go on a bar crawl, enjoy a swanky cocktail or two, or even consider swinging by a strip club for a fun joint experience. There’ll be plenty of time to get serious about your relationship later on down the line; don’t miss this opportunity to be caretime!
Romantic Moments
Finally, look at incorporating some romantic moments into your getaway. You’ll be having a fun time together, and that will naturally provoke some romantic moments, but there’s also value in being a little intentional about the romance side of things. You could look at visiting a spa, for example, or get a couples massage. If nothing else, look up the most romantic restaurants nearby and make a reservation. The dinner, the wine, and the candles will create an atmosphere that makes it easy to be in love.
