Even at 60, We Still Do Everything Together

My Best Friend and I Met Up with an Old Pal

Since grade school, my best friend and I have been in constant contact, which is an achievement, considering that we are both 60 years old. We have been through a lot together—bad relationships, economic hardships, and even natural disasters—and will continue to be there for each other, even though we’re getting old. Still, we’re young at heart and haven’t stopped doing the things we love, including shopping at the mall and going out to dinner.

Recently, we reconnected with another mutual friend from high school. It had been many years since we last saw her, and it was such a surprise to see how much she had changed!

I Noticed Immediately She Looked 40 Instead of 60

The first thing I noticed about our old friend was that her appearance didn’t match her age. She was 60 but looked to be no older than 40. My best friend and I were shocked! I didn’t want to be disrespectful, but I couldn’t help staring in awe and asking about her secret to looking so good. She grinned and told me that she had recently undergone a facelift, which had done her wonders. It was inspiring to hear, though I admit that it also made me feel slightly jealous!

Afterward, my best friend and I talked about cosmetic work and decided that we should get a facelift together—clearly, our old friend inspired us to seek out the benefits! I can’t wait to embark on this fun new adventure as a team.

We All Went Shopping for New Outfits

Of course, the evening didn’t stop with the facelift conversation—we did so much more! We drove into the city and took on the mall, which we used to do after receiving our Christmas money. Nowadays, we’re more responsible with our income, but it’s still fun to let loose and tour some stores. The mall has changed so much since we were teenagers!

First, we looked at some sparkly new dresses, and then we stopped by a perfume shop for powerful fragrances. Amazingly, smells can transport you back to a simpler time, and there were some incredible deals available, which made the evening all the more special.

Back in high school, we three would hit the pretzel stand, sit on the nearby benches, and talk about life and our plans. The same happened now; our old friend spilled the tea on everything that had been going on in her corner of the world, including her recent remarriage. If nothing else, she proved that you’re never too old to find true love again!

Ended the Day at an Old Diner with Good Conversation

Walking around the mall worked up our appetites, so we decided to get something to eat and chose the old diner we used to frequent. Even though it was late in the evening, we all ordered breakfast food and had a wonderful conversation. The ambiance was perfect, the service was excellent, and I felt right at home with my friends.

Of course, this won’t be the last time we have a meal together, and before the end of the night, we are already planning our next meeting. It’s so refreshing to get together with old friends and look back on the glory days—and look forward to all of the ones ahead!
