Art, Rhythm and Wine 2015: The Best Local Spirits in Rancho Santa Fe

The inaugural Art, Rhythm and Wine event at Cielo Village in Rancho Santa Fe featured a myriad of fantastic restaurants and wineries providing food and beverages to the VIP patrons. Some of the wineries provided intricate tastings of their wines, while others offered free samples or sold bottles. Here's a little bit of background information on all of the wonderful wineries, breweries, and distilleries that participated in the Rancho Santa Fe event.

Koi Zen Cellars

Koi Zen Cellars brought two different wines to Saturdays event. The first was a 2012 Santa Barbara Pinot Noir, which had bright berry flavors and hints of floral and spice. The second wine was a 2013 Petite Verdot, which was a full-bodied wine with hints of fruit and cocoa in it. Koi Zen Cellars is an urban winery located in Carmel Mountain Ranch. Owned by Darius and Lisa Miller, Koi Zen Cellars offers private tastings. 

Carruth Cellars

Carruth Cellars is an urban winery located in Solana Beach, California just a few blocks from the beach. Their grapes are sourced from vineyards in Northern California cities such as Sonoma, Mendocino and Napa Valley. Carruth Cellars specializes mainly in red wines. The winery offers wine tastings to their guests, as well as a wine bar.

Brooking Vineyard

Brooking Vineyard brought two wines with them to the event. The first was a 2014 Estate Tempranillo Angelica, which contains hints of blueberry and cherries. They also brought their 2014 Estate Muscat Canelli Angelica wine, a white wine with hints of vanilla and a slight oaky taste. Brooking won the winemaker of the year award in 2014; they grow all of their grapes in Vista, and they proudly use a solar-powered winery to process the grapes.

Mediterraneo Taste

Mediterraneo Taste brought a series of wines from Spain and some tapas for guests to eat with their wines. Among their featured bottles was a Syrah, a Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Chardonnay. Mediterraneo Taste also brought a Hipperia, which contains a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Mediterraneo Taste is located in Orange County, California and their products often originate from Spain and other Mediterranean locations.

Falkner Winery

Falkner Winery brought four of their wines to the event, including a 2014 Chardonnay and a 2012 Rock Creek Vineyard Sarrah. Falkner Winerys two most popular wines were a 2014 Vignettewhich featured a dry, white peach flavorand a 2011 Amante, which was a Super Tuscan style wine that has earthy, elegant flavors. The Amante has won several awards in various wine competitions, including the 2014 San Diego Wine Competition.

Coomber Winery

The Coomber Family Ranch Winery brought their 2011 central coast Chardonnay, which has Bartlett pear and Georgia peach flavors. Also available at the event was a 2012 California Cabernet Sauvignon with layered flavors of cherry, black currant, and chocolate. The Coomber Family Ranch winery began in 2009. The wines are produced in Buellton, California. These wines are available at some of the finest restaurants in San Diego, including Mille Fleurs, Delicias, Pamplemousse Grille, and Market Restaurant.

Martellotto Winery

Martellotto Winery brought a myriad of wonderful wines for patrons of the Art, Rhythm and Wine event to sample, including their 91 point 2012 Pinot Noir, which includes cherry flavors. Martellotto also brought their 94 point 2014 Cabernet "La Bomba,which is fruity. Martellotto Wines is located in San Diego, California and owned by Greg Martellotto. Martellottos family has been in the winery business for generations, and the companys wines are available at high-end San Diego restaurants such as Market Restaurant.

La Serenissima Vineyard

La Serenissima Vineyard served three wines at the event. They brought a 2010 Claret, which is a full-bodied traditional Bordeaux blend, as well as a Cabernet Franc, which is an unfiltered red wine that pairs nicely with richer foods. Their crowd-favorite wine was the Arneis, which is a crisp and dry Italian white wine. This vineyard allows their grapes to grow naturally: they do not allow chemicals, fertilizers, or pesticides in their farming process. La Serenissima Vineyard is located in North County San Diego.

St Petersburg vodka in Rancho Santa Fe

St Petersburg Vodka

St Petersburg Vodka brought a case of their imported Russian vodka to the Rancho Santa Fe Art, Rhythm, and Wine event. The St Petersburg vodka is distilled from premium wheat, and it is produced and bottled in Russia. St Petersburg vodka is available at many different restaurants in San Diego, including Pacifica Del Mar.

Crater Lake Vodka and Gin

Crater Lake Vodka and Gin supplied their classic vodka and their classic gin to Saturdays Art, Rhythm and Wine event. The Crater Lake Estate gin is handcrafted from grains and botanicals grown at their distillery in Bend, Oregon. Though their products are not bottled in San Diego, they can be found at San Diego stores such as BevMo.

Henebery Whiskey

Henebery Whiskey brought some delicious whiskey to the event on October 24th. Their whiskeys are infused with spices and are made from a young, high rye whiskey, which makes it smooth and complex. The Henebery whiskey company is located in San Diego.

Stella Artois in Rancho Santa Fe

Stella Artois

Pouring beer on tap for guests throughout the night was Stella Artois. Stella served guests of the Art, Rhythm and Wine event from a large chest of ice that cooled their on-tap Stella Artois beer down to perfectly chilled temperatures. Stella brought their own beer goblets, which were available for the guests to take home as a way to commemorate the event. Stella Artois is a fantastic, light beer that is great for the casual beer consumer and the seasoned beer lover. 

California Fruit and Wine Company

The California Fruit and Wine Company contributed some of their sangria drinks, such as their pineapple and mango sangria and their pomegranate sangria. The California Fruit and Wine company is a 100% all-natural fruit wine company that makes naturally fermented, refreshing, and fruit-forward sangria.
